Chained potholes and irrelevant info

* CriticalBacklash: This episode is noticeably infamous amongst fans and tends to get ranked as one of the show's worst, criticizing Eddy’s nonstop torment and Edd’s questionable characterization. It gets so much hate that many fans who did enjoy it don’t see what’s so different here compared to past episodes. In fact, [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vpolaH_VVro one review]] even notes that most of the episodes criticisms are easily explained and justified through the story. It suggests that Edd has suffered some sort of SanitySlippage after getting increasingly frustrated with Eddy "kicking the beehive". Meanwhile the [=YouTube channel=] ''[=WatchMojo=]'' put ''Sorry, Wrong Ed'' at Number 7 on their Top 10 ''Ed, Edd n Eddy'' episodes.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* BrokenBase: Though not on the same level as "If It Smells Like An Ed" or "Your Ed Here", this remains one of the more controversial episodes. Did it take the SadistShow premise UpToEleven by tormenting Eddy for no reason, or was it still an enjoyable romp on point with the rest of the series? Some think that Eddy did deserve his suffering and the reason was simple: he tricked Rolf and stupidly tries to give the phone back to him rather then bury it.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Double D's actions in this episode. Some say he might have gotten crazy after the phone was gotten rid of and felt that he was going delusional to believe just because the phone wasn't present in his and the other two's view that the phone couldn't be the cause of Eddy's mishaps. There's also the theory that Double D being a callous jerk in this episode is actually part of the phone's curse, as it not only causes whoever dug it up to attract said curses, but also makes even the victim's most caring friends unfeeling for their painful predicaments.

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Sure we could say that Eddy being cursed by the telephone was his own fault due to not heeding Rolf's warning, but in all honesty, it would be rather difficult to take someone like [[FunnyForeigner Rolf]] seriously since he is often known to perform rather eccentric traditions and says the most cryptic phrases ever. Plus, Rolf, though warning the Eds of the curse, never gave out an explanation of the telephone's curse and how it affected him in his experiences. So Eddy disregarding Rolf's warning isn't unreasonable, to say the least.
* WhatAnIdiot: After Eddy experienced many misfortunes from the cursed phone, he decides to get rid of it, however, instead of trying to either destroy, bury, or just stop answering it altogether, Eddy's best course of actions is to try giving the phone back to Rolf, the original owner who warned Eddy about the dangers of the cursed phone after ''burying it in the first place'' and it obviously didn't work.
