* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: With an abundance of ships available and only so much time, many players will find one or two ships they like and stick to them. It used to be worse, as some of the modules that make a ship viable were locked behind linear progression and as such needed a lot of dedication. Thankfully, you can now pick and choose the modules you want to purchase and you’re forced to branch out to unlock the game-changing Officer Briefings, which lessens this greatly.
* FanNickname:
** The Koschei healer-tank hybrid is called “the Potato,” appropriate for its wide, squat, bulbous appearance. Alternately called “Hot Potato” derisively for team compositions making heavy use of these nigh-indestructible healers, which tends to result in a lot of flaming.
** Boop Train for the Oberon Vindicta. Being the fastest Destroyer and having an officer briefing that makes it even faster encourages [[RammingAlwaysWorks one type of playstyle]].

* ScrappyMechanic: Maintenance costs are absolutely reviled on the forums, as they prevent one from using a tier 3 or above ship they've unlocked for a week. This in turn causes veteran players to go back to Recruit games to get the cash to pay the maintenance, making most games on Recruit (the lowest tier of match-making) suffer from "[[CurbStompBattle seal clubbing]]".

Fortunately they were completely removed.
