* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: It's been noted that Raquel seems to have more personal chemistry with Ángela than with her nominal love interest Arturo, leading to some people viewing them in a LesYay light.

* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Much of the NarmCharm comes from the actors treating this show as though it's an actual {{Telenovela}}, complete with heightened emotions and dramatic flourishes.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: While it's commonly used in college Spanish courses, ''Destinos'' is also aimed at high schools, and some middle schools have utilized it as well. While there's nothing too racy or disturbing in the show, it still hits common {{Telenovela}} parameters, which makes it a little awkward for adolescents needing to keep track of a storyline that includes a LoveTriangle, Raquel getting unwanted attention from TheCasanova, a harrowing rescue from a cave-in, and a subplot involving embezzlement, as part of their school curriculum.

* NarmCharm: To reiterate, this is a very {{Melodrama}}tic {{Telenovela}}, designed to be used in high school and college Spanish classes, with the educational content very obviously shoehorned in, especially when Raquel herself [[BreakingTheFourthWall Breaks The Fourth Wall]] and gives us a pop quiz at the end of each episode. It's pretty corny, especially if you're forced to watch it as a student, but it's well-made and well-acted enough to be entertaining.
