* EarWorm - The second season opening, ''Sakura Amaneku Sekai'', and ''CRESCENDO'', one of Nanaka's {{ImageSong}}s.
* FoeYay - Suginami and Mayuki really seem to enjoy being enemies.
* GatewaySeries - It's arguable that this and its [[VisualNovel/DaCapo prequel]] are GatewaySeries into the DatingSim genre; it's certainly true if you consider that anime adaptations of {{Visual Novel}}s started to rain left and right after ''VisualNovel/DaCapo'' was animated in 2003.
* PlayerPunch - [[spoiler:Yoshiyuki will disappear if Otome withers the Sakura tree. Also, Sakura and Junichi merge with the tree to attempt to control it. It doesn't work.]]
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap - If you didn't like Sakura in the original it's a ''bit'' hard to hold onto that distaste with the finale.

* TearJerker - The final arc of the second season is just as bad as the final arc of ''VisualNovel/{{Air}}''.

* GatewaySeries - It's arguable that this and its [[DaCapo prequel]] are GatewaySeries into the DatingSim genre; it's certainly true if you consider that anime adaptations of {{Visual Novel}}s started to rain left and right after ''DaCapo'' was animated in 2003.

* TheWoobie: Sakura. Due to the CuttingOffTheBranches, she [[DidNotGetTheGirl Did Not Get The Guy]] in DaCapo. Between games, she spent much of her time conducting research overseas as her friends at home passed her by and raised families of their own. Then when she comes back home, [[spoiler: she makes a wish on the sakura tree that came from her research for a family, and gets Yoshiyuki...but the tree grants wishes indiscriminately, so she has to spend most of her time trying to keep the harmful wishes from hurting people. Furthermore, due to Yoshiyuki's unusual origin she can't even have him properly acknowledge her as his "mother". And after all that, [[HeroicSacrifice well...]] ]]

* EpilepticTrees - "Is Suginami the same Suginami in ''DaCapo''?"
** Apparently not, according to the recent D.C.D.X. ~Da Capo Dream Xmas~. The two Suginamis can be seen together hanging out in one CG.
*** Then again, said game also has Nemu in [=CGs=] with her granddaughters and looking rather on the young side for a grandmother.
*** That's because they get sent forward (or back, depending on whether you choose the original DaCapo or DaCapoII sidestory) in time thanks to magical TimeTravel, so Suginami could very well be [[NeverTheSelvesShallMeet chilling with himself]].
