* SeasonalRot: Although the series has only ran for one full season, some fans were divided with one having to enjoy the first half (the ones that was made with Skyler Page) than the second half (the ones that was made after Skyler left), as they complained how the 2nd half had caused the series to undergo from realistic, down-to-earth to unrealistic, zany, and imaginative, however the seeies was meant to look as it focuses on a kid with an overactive imagination and a bizarre way of looking at the world.

** Clarence is often paired up with ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' due being aired in the the same timeslots and having similar characters. If you go on Tumblr, you can usually find fan art of the two shows.
** There's quite a bit of mixing between the ''Clarence'' and ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'' fandoms due to the similarities in tone and the similar characters.

** ''Average Jeff'' for, well, Jeff.

* SeasonalRot: Although the series has only ran for one full season, some fans complain how the episodes made at the start of the season (the ones with Skyler Page as the voice of Clarence) were better because they were more grounded and down-to-Earth and are tired of the zany, crazy and unrealistic episodes that came out by the end of it (the ones made after Page was fired), even though the zaniness and craziness comes part and parcel with the show, as it focuses on a kid with an overactive imagination and a bizarre way of looking at the world.

* TakeThatScrappy: Fans love it when Belson gets his comeuppance for his bad behavior. Special mention goes to Clarence [[spoiler:punching him in the face in ''Lil Buddy''. Even the kids for a while weren't that upset when Belson was hurt.]]

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: In "Company Man", [[spoiler:Belson's dad was arrested for business fraud and money laundering]], but this doesn't seem to have had any effect on Belson's wealth in later episodes.

** Clarence is a chubby, misshapen, gap-toothed little guy. He also noticeably lacks ears. It's hard to find him any kind of adorable.

* TheWoobie: Sumo after we see what his home life is like in ''Dream Boat''. It's obvious that his dad legitimately cares about him to some extent but his family is so big that the man doesn't have much time to focus on him. That's not even getting into the fact that everyone in that family lives in a trailer near the town dump.

** The show itself is this for Cartoon Network, with there so far being a total of three camps: One thinks that it's a decent show with funny plots and lovable (or at the very least, likable) characters, another camp thinks that the show [[SoOkayItsAverage isn't bad but still pretty forgettable]], and finally, of course, you got those that disregard the show as being either bland, annoying, mean-spirited, or all three.

** Some fans liked Lil Buddy for seeing a whole new Clarence in the episode "Lil Buddy" and portraying how kids would act if things like that happened to Clarence. While others say it was way out of bounds and just sickening.
** Some thought Sumo was being selfish and unreasonable in ''The Break Up'' and Jeff had every reason to drop him as a friend.
** Some fans complain whether Clarence should stay realistic or keeping having weird episodes while others love both of kinds of episodes.
** Joshua's ChewToy status is either one of the funniest RunningGags in the show or too [[DudeNotFunny mean-spirited]] and brings the quality of the episodes down.

** During the scene in ''Clarence Gets a Girlfriend'' where the three main kids are looking for advice in Jeff's computer, Sumo is suddenly drawn rather rough and sketchy, as well as a loud screech in the background, when he speaks.

** Toward the end of ''Belson's Sleepover'' Clarence says one line in a completely different, more adult sounding voice for no apparent reason.

** ''Rough Riders Elementary'' is a surreal episode overall but one scene especially stands out. When Clarence opens a door, he finds Ms. Baker dressed as a southern belle pouring cinnamon ranch sauce into a kiddie pool with Mr. Reese wading in it while dressed as a chicken. Clarence doesn't say anything about it and nothing comes of it.
** ''Pilot Expansion'', which is just the original pitch pilot of ''Clarence'' sandwiched between framing devices of Jeff, Clarence, and Sumo as old men in the future trying to tell the story of how they met (it played out as if it could be the final episode of the series, considering that it premiered around the time Skyler Page was fired and a lot of people were concerned about whether or not it would go on without him). And, for reasons known only to the writers, it ends with a shout-out to ''The Jetsons''.
** ''Rough Riders Elementary'' has Aberdale Elementary get a sponsorship from Rough Riders Chicken. The fast food chain slowly takes over the school and brainwashes everyone but Clarence by feeding them a new sauce. Eventually, the school is turned into a fast food restaurant with the students as mindless employees. And then it turns out that Rough Riders Chicken is a cult that is trying to convert students into members. And ''[[UpToEleven then]]'' things go completely off the rails. [[spoiler:Luckily, it all turns out to be a story Clarence made up for his report]]. Yep.
** ''Jeff Wins'' has Clarence randomly breaking into the musical number ''Uptight as You'', singing in an adult's voice, complete with Sumo playing piano and showgirls that show up out of nowhere, as well as a cutaway to Jeff's moms where they somehow hear it. It's left entirely unclear afterwards who's fantasy it was and the plot moves on as if it never happened.
** In ''Suspended'', the boiler room part was super random. What really makes it random was how unrealistically big the boiler was, the fact it was far down below the school, the multiple-choice pipe quiz, and its overall existence. It basically felt like an episode of ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow''.
** [[DisneyAcidSequence The]] [[DerangedAnimation second]] [[BizarroEpisode half]] of ''Tuckered Boys'' arguably rivals ''Rough Riders Elementary'' in terms of BLAM.
** At the end of ''Chimney'', the dog talks to Joshua in a robotic voice, which may or may not have just been in Joshua's head.

** The episode ''Straight Illin'' was seen as either funny or too gross, dark and having a bad ending.

* SelfFanservice: Many fans like making fanart of Clarence and friends being in relationships with one another and drawing Jeff in girl clothing.

They are all way too recognizable in background roles, and several of them only get the spotlight once or twice a season. Heck, there are a couple of kids who haven't gotten any spotlight or development in the series yet. Also, Amy Gillis, a good-natured character who actually bonded with Clarence, who was just written out after her only appearance.

** JerkassWoobie: Jeff and Belson, depending on who you ask. Also Ms. Shoop to a certain extent when we see how her childhood went in "Lost Playground". Joshua Deserve the Sympathy too for obvious reasons.

* NeverLiveItDown: Skyler Page being fired after his sexual harassment claims and mental breakdown...and the fact that the show is able to go on without him because he didn't have full creative control of it. His name as creator still appears on the series' opening theme, but he is hardly acknowledged by the series' crew and has since become a ReclusiveArtist.

** "Li' Buddy" for Clarence

** In ''Neighborhood Grill'', Larry constantly writing down notes on pretty much everything is played for laughs. But then in ''Ice Cream Hunt'' it's heavily implied it's because he has Alzheimer's.
