* AuthorsSavingThrow: The inclusion of Pyrrha as a Heroic Spirit was argued against due to her not being very noteworthy by Heroic Spirit standards. However, the author managed to turn this around by actually having it brought up and using it as a plot point to bring up how Remnant has a different World than Gaia and Alaya.

managed to turn survive the events of the Lostbelt arc and underwent AdaptationalHeroism, siding with Chaldea and living through the experience in the process. ** While the possibility of them being summoned was discussed by fans, no one expected

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: An unusual meta version in that the author admitted he was hesitant to include the Wendigo Grimm in Chapter 7 on account of the controversy surrounding it and [=RoosterTeeth=]'s fan Grimm competitionCreator/RoosterTeeth held a competition for Full Sail University and had students submit their fan-made Grimm designs, which the public could vote on. The winner of the competition would have their Grimm be featured in Volume 8 of RWBY. The Wendigo Grimm submission proved to be popular enough to be one of the finalists, but complications and controversy and other factors caused RT to exclude the Wendigo Grimm submission and decide on the winner themselves.

* UnexpectedCharacter: The fact that Chaldea could summon Heroic Spirits native to Remnant was a surprising twist InUniverse, but something many readers were expecting. What people were not expecting was the author choosing Pyrrha Nikos and Ozma to be the first Remnant Servants to be summoned by Chaldea. While Pyrrha's case could be argued, Ozma's is more noteworthy considering that Ozpin is still around. This is even discussed between Ozma and Kadoc, with Ozma theorizing that Ozpin's participation in many of Remnant's fairy tales (The Girl in the Tower, the Two Brothers, the Four Seasons) may have provided enough of a connection to allow for his summoning.

That's not what that trope is. That trope is when something considered to have pioneered a genre is considered unfunny because the genre is played out. Seinfeld was one of the more famous live action sitcoms, but with them being a dime a dozen nowadays and with better writing, Seinfeld is seen as mediocre nowadays.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny:
** Make no mistake, a lot of people were more than happy to hear that Romani, AKA Solomon, was coming back to Chaldea via the Summoning Ritual. However, there were also just as many people who found Romani's subsequent treatmentGudako promised that she would give him a GroinAttack if she ever saw him again, and she followed through on that promise. Afterwards, Da Vinci left him to the mercy of Nightingale, who is obsessed with treating her patients to the point of actually killing them. In this case, she was going to take a bonesaw to his bruised genitals. following his summon to be less than hilarious.
** The constant use of GroinAttack has been something of a sore spot, despite having been done on only two occasions.
