Misuse; it was intentionally funny (in the wrong way, but still, intentionally funny).

** The film spends a little too much focus on silly cat jokes and [[MyInstinctsAreShowing how Patience acts more like a stereotypical housecat]], like hissing at dogs, obsessing over catnip, binging on tuna and sushi, etc. It's clearly ''meant'' to be funny, but given how the story is trying to otherwise take Patience's [[PowerFantasy newfound feelings of empowerment]] seriously, it ''really'' undermines her dignity. If anything, given how inherently tough it is to sell the idea that this empowerment was brought up by being ''resurrected by cats'', it almost comes across as a full admission that [[AudienceAlienatingPremise their own story is impossible to take seriously]].

* FetishRetardant: Pretty much everything about Patience's look is considered to be a prime example of trying too hard to be sexy, and failing horribly. The film puts Halle Berry in a {{Stripperiffic}} version of the heroine's comic book outfit. But it's so skimpy it [[DressedLikeADominatrix looks more like bondage gear]], and thus it's slightly uncomfortable to look at. Additionally, Patience gets a radical makeover that gives her an unflattering hairstyle, too much make-up, and another black leather SpyCatsuit. Yes, the movie decided that Halle Berry [[UnnecessaryMakeover needed a makeover]].

* {{Moe}}: Patience Phillips definitely qualifies in the movie's first half. She's a dorky but [[NiceGirl sweet]] aspiring artist who's too meek to stand up to anyone, whether it be her boss or her loud neighbors, she's endearingly awkward in her everyday life, and her reaction to Tom's interest in her is adorable. Not to mention [[AnimalLover her loving nature toward cats]] even before becoming Catwoman. {{Downplayed|Trope}} in the movie's second half where she becomes more confident and sexually assertive as Catwoman, though she does still have some cute moments even after this.

Except the dying and being brought back was taken literally in this movie. In Batman Returns it was more ambiguous and clearly more in Selina's head

* MisBlamed: While the creative team behind the film is undeniably responsible for ''most'' of its problems, most of its [[InNameOnly liberties with the source material]] actually started with ''Film/BatmanReturns'' in 1992--which introduced the idea of Catwoman developing vaguely defined cat-like superpowers after [[CameBackStrong being killed]] and coming {{back from the dead}} (ideas that are nowhere to be found in the comics). This is because the film was originally conceived as a {{spinoff}} of ''Batman Returns'' centered on Creator/MichellePfeiffer's Catwoman, who was already significantly different from the character's original incarnation; even though it was eventually retooled as a Creator/HalleBerry vehicle, its most basic premise still takes its cues from ''Batman Returns''. Even Catwoman's [[TrademarkFavoriteFood love of milk]] started there!

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: A now super confident Patience putting the obnoxious neighbors in their place for partying too loud at night.

Not enough context (ZCE)

* TaintedByThePreview: The trailers already show that the film isn't going to be good.

Now a disambiguation.

* EvilIsSexy: Sharon Stone, banking on her ''Film/BasicInstinct'' sex appeal, playing the villainess Laurel.
