* AuthorsSavingThrow: Many of Burgess' later stories repeatedly emphasized the inaccuracy of scientific misconceptions supported by earlier ones. He also covered the immorality of playing harmful pranks on others, despite pranks being a common activity for protagonists in his early works.

*JerkassWoobie: Reddy the fox. Sure, he's a MilesGloriosus with a massive ego and a bit of a mean streak but he pretty much gets treated like a ButtMonkey to more than half of the forest. This is especially evident in the animated series "Fables Of The Green Forest" where he comes off as an IneffectualSympatheticVillain more than anything. Also, let's not forget the story where he gets shot in the leg by a hunter and is reduced to tears of pain. He may be foolish and egotistical but there's no denying he could use a hug and a shoulder to cry on. The closest thing the poor fox experiences in terms of compassion is his grandma's tough love.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Kitty the Catbird and Beauty the Wood Duck are male. (The latter makes sense, of course, when one is aware of the sexual dimorphism in wood ducks.)
