YMMV / Burgess Bedtime Stories

Go To

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: In a way: the anime version of the Bedtime Stories, Fables Of The Green Forest, was dubbed for Latin America in The '80s and is still very fondly remembered there.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Reddy the fox. Sure, he's a Miles Gloriosus with a massive ego and a bit of a mean streak but he pretty much gets treated like a Butt-Monkey to more than half of the forest. This is especially evident in the animated series "Fables Of The Green Forest" where he comes off as an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain more than anything. Also, let's not forget the story where he gets shot in the leg by a hunter and is reduced to tears of pain. He may be foolish and egotistical but there's no denying he could use a hug and a shoulder to cry on. The closest thing the poor fox experiences in terms of compassion is his grandma's tough love.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Kitty the Catbird and Beauty the Wood Duck are male. (The latter makes sense, of course, when one is aware of the sexual dimorphism in wood ducks.)
