actor trivia

* HilariousInHindsight: Two based on Creator/HannahJohnKamen's involvement:
** She's set to play ComicBook/RedSonja in a film adaptation, meaning Black Mirror is only the first time she's played a Sonya.
** As mentioned on the main page, the episode's Resident Evil influence is ironic, considering she's also set to play Jill Valentine.
** Fans of the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse would likely find the idea of [[Series/TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier John Walker]] and [[Film/AntManAndTheWasp Ava Starr]] hooking up with each other in this series to be amusing in it of itself. It becomes even funnier when Creator/WyattRussell and Creator/HannahJohnKamen were both announced to be co-starring as their characters in a ''Thunderbolts'' movie for the franchise.

* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: It's unlikely you've ever seen anything with Wyatt Russell in it prior to this episode, but his acting chops in ''Playtest'' rival that of [[Creator/KurtRussell his father's.]]

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: Saitogemu, and Katie in particular, seem extremely negligent in their security and safety precautions. [[spoiler: Why allow the phone in the room at all? Shouldn't they be testing this in a shielded room?]]

* ShockingSwerve: In the last ten or so minutes of the episode, it's revealed that [[spoiler: the experimental technology has gone too far and left Cooper permanently traumatized and without memories.]] It's then shown that [[spoiler:''that'' was part of the game and he's safe in Saito's office, ready to go home at last]]; he leaves and finds [[spoiler: his mother has developed Alzheimer's just as his dad did and no longer remembers him]], which is when [[spoiler: ''that too'' is revealed as part of the game, only this time it's gone terribly wrong and killed him due to interference from his phone being called by his mother, as it was still on after taking the photo of the device]]. The bleakness is nothing new for ''Black Mirror'', but the inability to wrap the plot up tidier is.

Not necessarily a shout out. Also removing This Troper
