* HilariousInHindsight: You might notice the signature of a "Tom King" on many Knight Watchman stories; in-universe King is the equivalent of ComicBook/{{Batman}} co-creator Creator/BobKane with a bit of Creator/StanLee, as described in the History of Big Bang Comics issues of the Image series. In 2016, a full 22 years after the first Big Bang miniseries, a writer named Creator/TomKing became [[ComicBook/BatmanTomKing the architect of the Batman character for many years.]]

* HarsherInHindsight : Big Bang Comics is an AffectionateParody of the Silver Age of comics and uses CaptainErsatz versions of DC characters in order to remind readers that this era of comic history was still interesting and enjoyable even if it was more silly. However for modern audiences this is a novelty, as [[ComicBook/{{Irredeemable}} darker and more realistic]] [[ComicBook/{{Invincible}} deconstructions]] [[ComicBook/SupremePower of these]] characters would become increasingly common in the following decades. Ultiman stands out as a rare SupermanSubstitute who isn't an example of BewareTheSuperman, in sharp contrast to characters like [[ComicBook/TheBoys Homelander]] and Film/{{Brightburn}}.

* ValuesDissonance: While the comics have always used DeliberateValuesDissonance to better reflect the times these stories were supposed to be set, some ideas have not aged well especially in ''The Graveyard Shift'' which was set in the same year it was published. Here it is pretty much confrimed that the Pink Flamingo is gay, something that was implied by his HeManWomanHater attitude and multiple comments that he doesn't work with girls. However they show this by having him act pretty predatory towards several characters, such as Reid Randall who is AmbiguouslyGay while also mentioning that he had believed they had been in competition for Galahad's affection who he has known since Galahad was a child, and that his mother would force him to wear girls clothing since she desperately wanted to have had daughters. While not as terrible as other examples at the time and a direct link between him being evil and being gay isn't made, it is still pretty problematic.
