* TheScrappy: There's pretty much a consensus that if there's one haunt absolutely nobody likes to play, it's ''Murderball,'' due to the confusing rules.

** The original game's haunts almost always had a traitor, so players familiar with the original game won't be surprised that the prologue of ''Betrayal Legacy'' has one of the players turn out to be a traitorous witch. [[spoiler:Except that ''no one'' actually is a witch; everyone was just driven insane by some evil influence.]]

Internet Backdraft is now Flame Bait and being dewicked per TRS.

* InternetBackdraft:
** When news hit that Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn were called upon to write haunts for the game's "Widow's Walk" expansion, some fans of the game were ''not'' happy about it (this is brought up during an interview with the designer at 7:52 of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zfZ_4WTA14 this video.]]) To a much lesser extent, the fact that the game got an expansion after 12 years and did not take the opportunity to fix the base game's character cards.
** Definitely averted in the case of [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime Pendleton]] [[WebAnimation/BravestWarriors Ward]] contributing to the story, however.

As a sugar wiki item, moved to its own subpage

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: Finding the skull in the theater and then triggering a haunt will have your characters act out a very condensed version of ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'', with the heroes having to run around the house, say lines from the play, and then prevent "Hamlet" from killing himself. While it's still a serious concern, compared to having to battle Eldritch Horrors and other nasties it takes a far turn into absurd (helped by the self aware descriptions in both Hero and Traitor manuals).
** As the Game Grumps [[https://youtu.be/GCrQ2NexsTU?t=207 found out]] on ''WebVideo/TableFlip'' it's possible to find that, out of all the rooms in the house, the Graveyard is the one that "feels strangely right" due to the "A Moment of Hope" event.

* NightmareFuel:
** Okay, so yeah it's a board game, but seriously, read some of the events (like "Funeral," "Burning Man," or "Hanged Men" to name a few) and then imagine really experiencing them while exploring in a creepy haunted house. *shudder*
** After a few rounds, you'll likely start to have a silent group consensus on who should read all the cards and the scenario texts, based simply on who has the [[CreepyMonotone best]] [[EvilSoundsDeep voice]] and [[EvilLaugh style]].
** AdultFear: The "Better With Friends" scenario retcons the traitor into the ghost of someone who drowned years ago and wants to drown the heroes for eternal companionship. [[spoiler: Due to her ChekhovsHobby, [[UndeadChild nine-year-old Missy Dubourde is always the traitor in this scenario if somebody is playing as her]].]]
