You can't just say your opinions here, this is for tropes about audience reactions.

* WhatTheHellCastingAgency: [[RaceLift Willow and Jaden Smith]] were announced to play Emily and Navin for a film adaptation of the books, which appears to have halted in development.
* May be an unpopular opinion, but the popularity and the most poignant thing about the series is its AwesomeArt. But when it comes to anything else such as rounded characters or consistent plot ended up being subpar or severely underdeveloped or unoriginal. In other words, the only really good and undeniable thing about Amulet is its great art and nothing else.

* StoicWoobie: Trellis ever since Book 1, though the audience doesn't learn the full extent of it until later. When he was young, [[spoiler:he was scarred, mind-wiped, and enslaved to a mind-controlling parasite by his own father for finding out the truth about the Voices, and the only people who ever cared about him were either killed, like Virgil, or used against him, like Luger.]] He then grew up under a cold and clearly emotionally abusive father, during war times, and was treated like crap ''even by his own people'' by the time he became an adult. Things only get worse for him for a while after defecting from his father, until he becomes friends with Emily at least [[spoiler:until he watches her break down and lose control of her stone while he's helpless to stop it...]] and yet, Trellis has rarely ever broken down or even complained about this in any of his appearances, even after [[spoiler:regaining his memories about his youth.]]

* NightmareFuel: Plenty in Book 6, including such delights as [[spoiler:Chronos being crushed to death, and his guts splattering onto Max, Navin and Aly being trapped in a town full of [[BodySnatcher body snatchers]] that borders on SurvivalHorror, and Max rapidly aging to a skeleton and dying in front of the others.]]
** The very first volume had Trellis eating a live slug with a full mouth of razor sharp teeth, in a panel that made him look really creepy. It was quite a surprise after that that he turned out to be a good person.
** The entire sequence with [[spoiler:the memory of the man who indirectly killed Emily's father]] is very unnerving in how clear it is that Emily is being manipulated--and especially how, [[spoiler:in spite of everything that she said beforehand about not losing control, she gives in to the Voice shockingly easily when her longing to see her father is involved.]]

This isn't really fair to Max's dad since there's only one huge prison in Cielis.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Max's father has Layra's family detained. Max confronts him about it and his father carelessly gives away the location of their prison, which predictably leads to Max freeing them. It results in Layra and her family being killed alongside the crew that was stowing them away, and Max being arrested, leading to Max's StartOfDarkness.

** Similarly, Luger has a lot of similarities with Admiral Zhao of the same show, being a high ranking and ruthless general that is much older than Trellis, yet rivals him in his service to their king. * CounterpartComparison: Trellis shares quite a lot of similarities with [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Prince Zuko]]. He's got a noticeable scar down the left side of his face, is a prince with father issues and loner tendencies, ends up disillusioned with his own people and tries to overthrow his father, and he even has an "uncle Iroh" figure in his uncle Virgil and [[spoiler:his big brother Luger, who even beats him at board games.]] He also has a lot of tension with the female lead of the main cast that eventually turns to friendship.

* ClicheStorm: And You have the rebellious scarred prince who wishes to overthrow his father and is morally ambiguous, the Chosen One who is spoken of in a prophecy (two counts of them with both Navin and Emily,) a magical MacGuffin that is more dangerous than it seems at first, the grumpy but honest and hardworking member of the team in Cogsley, a floating city in the sky with a dark secret, and these are just a few examples. The story and art combined still works really well.manage to hold up, however.
