* GeniusBonus: Mack, Yo-Yo and May are visibly quite reluctant to use the R-word when persuading Deke to go talk to Sharpe because he won't open up to anyone who's not white. This may have been unintentional, but ''the word "racism" did not yet exist in the mid-1950s.''

** The conversation May and Yo-Yo have about women pilots is a reference to the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_Airforce_Service_Pilots Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP)]]. As explained by May, these were female civilian volunteers that participated in training exercises like testing aircrafts and towing targets for ammunition practice during WWII. Despite many losing their lives, the women were not recognized to have any military standing at the time. It wouldn't be until the 1970s that they received veterans status and later, in 2009, awarded the Congressional Gold Medal under the Obama administration.

Also the protests are about police brutality and systematic racism. I dont think the scene in the show was just being honest about the time like the scene in the diner.

The episode aired prior to the riots. It's level of harshness is limited as he is playing a character native to that time. Reality ensues?

* HarsherInHindsight: With worldwide riots over the murder of George Floyd going on by the time the episode aired, it was the worst possible time to try to play a horribly racist government figure for nothing but harmless laughs.
