Not a subjective trope.

* BrokenAesop: The game's writing and mechanics sometimes get in the way of its attempts to deconstruct Mon games. Despite the game telling you to treat your party as people and to care about them, it plays the many tropes of its genre completely straight. The lack of [[WelcomeToCorneria variation in dialogue]] makes your party ''still'' feel like expendable nobodies, as does the lack of real lasting consequence for letting one perish; Ioti remains chipper and cheery no matter how many have died, outwardly coming off as ''less'' caring than the trainers the game lampoons (as mons couldn't be KilledOffForReal in those games), and mons other than Divonion don't really react to the death of one of their comrades beyond cheap funerals with dialogue so canned that they often seem like they were only doing it out of obligation, which isn't helped by the MadLibsDialogue resulting in characters mourning people they've never met.

** Zebrata with Secondary Strength (+20% damage with their secondary type) are almost always inferior to those with Primary Pride (+20% damage with their primary type). Their extremely powerful Candy Blast attack always takes on their primary type, meaning it benefits from Primary Pride but not Secondary Strength. Secondary Zebratas have no analogous benefit.

This creates a bit of a BrokenAesop, as Zebratas' primary vs. secondary culture war is portrayed as petty and ridiculous, but there is an objectively right answer.

* CompleteMonster: Furcifume is an utterly unrepentant, thoroughly evil being with no redeeming qualities. He mercilessly kills every Abomi he comes across, enslaving their souls to form an army of undead to cut a bloody swath through Abomi Nation. He wants to plunge the world into a state of constant war and chaos to satisfy his callous SocialDarwinist philosophy, and burns every olive branch Ioti offers him despite her belief that he can be redeemed. Not only that, but he is actively sadistic, relishing in Ioti's despair every time her teammates die and twisting the knife by [[spoiler:using her own fallen teammates' voices to berate her for failing to protect them]]. In the finale, he even [[spoiler:murders his own loyal lieutenants after he awakens, seemingly just out of spite]]. It's hard not to agree with [[spoiler:Ioti]]'s final conclusion that the only good thing he can do is die.

* LowTierLetdown: On the Total Chaos randomization setting, it is actually possible to recruit ''Furcifume'' into your party. He averts RedemptionDemotion, but, well... he's not actually that impressive. He only learns Neutral moves, preventing him from interacting with the ElementalRockPaperScissors that forms the core of the battle system, and his ability only works if he's the only Abomi on your team, making it useless most of the time.

** You can also recruit [[spoiler:Awakened Ioti]] on Total Chaos... who has the exact same problems as Furcifume, and an even ''less'' interesting movepool.

* {{Narm}}: A lot of dialogue that's supposed to be poignant can end up sounding very silly due to procedural generation, especially since there's not a lot of variation. It's hard to take Abomis' eulogies seriously when they give the exact same one for every single teammate who dies, for instance.
* UglyCute: Most Abomis who aren't just straight-up cute. Even Furcifume, as monstrous as he is, has a certain charm with his chameleon body.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Ioti is an AllLovingHero fighting for a good cause... but her recruitment speeches always remain exactly as chipper and optimistic, even if you're a bad player who's constantly getting Abomis killed. This makes it seem like she's deliberately downplaying the danger, making her come off as weirdly callous or even manipulative.

!!For the video game:
* AnticlimaxBoss: Furcifume is probably the easiest BossBattle you'll encounter in the game. He only ever fights solo, so you don't have to wade through an entire team first, and though he hits hard, his moveset is extremely limited, so he's unlikely to surprise you. His main gimmick is to [[BarrierChangeBoss randomize his type with Shamouflage]]... which forces him to spend a turn not attacking, and [[AchillesHeel actually ends up hurting him more often than not]] by giving you a weakness to exploit. He does have a StatusBuffDispel, but that's his only other trick, and again forces him to spend a turn not attacking.
