** The polycule of [[spoiler:Sigurd/Sophia/Gunnar/Heidrun]] is a bit too big (4 people) to use a PortmanteauCoupleName, so some fans have taken to calling it the Constantinopolycule.
** Eret/Cami/Merida is sometimes called the Eretrio.

Wulfhild is not an OC. Wulfhild is based on a real person.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Spitelout comes across as being ambitious and not having the tribe's best interests in mind for pushing Snotlout as Berk's next chief even after Hiccup's popularity soars just before the beginning of the story. However his pushing Snotlout as the next chief could easily have started over a legitimate concern over the tribe's future. Valka appeared to have died leaving Stoick with one child (Hiccup). Given how the tribe chooses who would be the next chief, the chief having only one child could potentially pose a problem if said child proves to be controversial and isn't able to get a majority of the vote. In order for the tribe to even consider someone that is not the child of the previous chief, a supper majority would be needed but if like 49% is insistent on the chief's only child being the next chief, things could get very messy. To avoid that kind of situation, Spitelout had to make Snotlout appear to be a much more desirable choice than Hiccup and for a while, it looked like Snotlout would end up as the next chief. When the battle against Green Death happened and Hiccup went from being thought of as the village screw up to being a hero, Spitelout was so used to the idea that Snotlout was going to be the next chief that he couldn't let go of that idea and continued to push Snotlout and it took Harthacnut's failed invasion of Berk to make him realize Snotlout as chief would be a disaster.

* AudienceAwarenessAdvantage: There's been criticism of the story on actions taken by the characters--often Hiccup--that the reviewers feel make no sense from their perspective.

* CompleteMonster: [[AdaptationalVillainy Mildew]] is worse than his canon counterpart. Banished from his clan in his youth because of his appalling personality, Mildew was only able to avoid being banished from Berk due to his apparent skill in killing dragons. After being identified as someone useful by Alban spies, he is made a Jarl of a village in Alba in exchange for smuggling some of Berk's dragon hatchlings to Alba, quickly earning a reputation of being brutal and harsh. When Mildew heads an expedition to a dragon nest in Iceland, he [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil enslaves]] the people who live near where the expedition sets up camp, in spite of his heritage of being from a tribe that rescues people from slavery and likely has former slaves in his recent family tree. His private thoughts reveal that he tried to [[ManOnFire burn alive]] his entire former clan in an attempt to inherit their property and fortune, [[LovesTheSoundOfScreaming taking pleasure in their screams]]. Devoid of loyalty to anyone, [[ItsAllAboutMe Mildew]] is willing to do anything to gain the power and influence he wants over others and to save his own life.

* CompleteMonster: Mildew. At first it seems like he is just like cannon!Mildew in WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk with his unpleasant personality, dislike of dragons, and willingness to work with Berk's enemies. As the story progresses, however, its revealed he is worse than his cannon counterpart. He was banished from his clan, but not his tribe, because of his awful personality. When he is made a Jarl of a village in Alba in exchange for smuggling some of Berk's dragon hatchlings to Alba, he quickly earns a reputation of being brutal and harsh. When he heads an expedition to a dragon nest in Iceland, even though he was born and raised in a tribe that detests slavery, he enslaves the people who live near where the expedition sets up camp. His private thoughts reveal that he murdered nearly his entire former clan by locking them into their hall and setting it on fire in a failed attempt to inherit their property and fortune (he only got away with it because everyone thought the fire was an accident). To make it worse he took pleasure in hearing their death screams. In a couple of epigraphs, its revealed that he is remembered as Mildew the Vicious. He is basically a man with no loyalty to anyone who is willing to do anything to gain the power and influence he wants over others or at least save his own neck.
