** Many readers also already figured that Melisandre was [[spoiler:Amora the Enchantress.]]
* InspirationForTheWork: The author has stated to reviewers that part of the inspiration for this fic was, of all things, a [=RipT=] shirt design. The cover art for the fic is said design, a direwolf done in the style of Tony's armor.
** For chapter 41 of ''A Crack of Thunder'', Mr. Chaos went through the testimonials of real life rapists to get an understanding of how the rapists would act when they attempted to assault Jane. He states that it was very disturbing to read, and that Thor's brutal massacre of them was much needed catharsis for him.

** From book 1: Is Tony Stark a smooth operator, someone who can play the game of thrones well and was changed by being exposed to tragedy and pain? A man whose sense of guilt he tries to hide under arrogance? Or a FlatCharacter with some InformedFlaw who was only spiced up later on to try and make up for his presentation in the first book?

Now only applies to fandom trends. Specific works doing this are Adaptational tropes.

* DracoInLeatherPants: Some fans feel that the author is doing this with Tywin, giving him more depth than there is. Others argue this is merely him developing the character, especially since he is given POV chapters here. The main issue is the removal of his NeverMyFault tendencies, which has no adequately explained reason; his better treatment of Tyrion can be traced pretty directly to Tony, but there's no real reason Tywin would suddenly be more willing to admit his part in his men's atrocities, particularly when that was a big element of his character in the books and the show both.

* RonTheDeathEater: In the original books, Melisandre, while regarded as a SinisterMinister by those who don't know her closely, is ultimately a WellIntentionedExtremist who genuinely believes that her brutal actions in the name of Rh'llor are what's necessary to bring forth [[TheChosenOne Azor Ahai]]. Here, [[spoiler:she's actually Amora the Enchantress, a sociopathic VainSorceress whose only concern in life is [[VillainessesWantHeroes having Thor to herself]], and she resorts to numerous extreme actions to attain that goal, such as manipulating Stannis into agreeing to burn his daughter alive, stabbing Selyse to death when she refuses to go through with it, and having Jane imprisoned so that a bunch of criminals can gang-rape her.]] Needless to say, the author's version of Melisandre is one no reader can like.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Following Catelyn's infamous "it should have been you" line, Tony immediately storms in and [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech chews her out for her failings as a stepmother.]] Yes, great, very cathartic... except Catelyn is canonically half-mad with fear and grief at this point, and Tony is having his little self-righteous rant ''literally'' over the bed where one of her children lies crippled and possibly dying.
* WhatAnIdiot: Several readers noted that Jon [[spoiler: when he first dons the Iron Man suit]] should've killed Gregor Clegane when he had the chance as Gregor had been weakened and on his knees. It's ultimately subverted, though, as Tony later points out that killing Gregor would have prompted Tywin to obliterate Iron Pointe.
** Played straight by Gregor himself [[spoiler:after becoming the Iron Monger]]. Instead of attacking the Riverlands like Tywin ordered him to, he [[spoiler:assaults Iron Pointe, kills Obediah and kidnaps Pepper in order to lure Iron Man in for a rematch]]. This rash act of vengeance gives Tony an excuse to kill him without consequence (and the fact that [[spoiler:the rematch takes place in an isolated mine, with no one around]] allows Tony to make up a story about what really happened, forging an even better cover for his SecretIdentity).
*** Even Gregor's contingency plan for evading reprisal for this act would likely have failed, as depriving himself of Tywin's protection paints a huge target on his back. Sure, sending an assassin would be foolhardy, given his status as TheJuggernaut (though since there's so many Marvel characters running around, ''no'', not that one), but his more influential foes (which would now include Tywin) have access to many powerful poisons, and it wouldn't be hard to arrange for one to be slipped into his food.
** When Joffrey (as King) attempts to have Ned Stark executed, he's rudely interrupted by a certain flying magical knight that has proven to be lethal to even Gregor Clegane himself, demanding the freedom of both Ned and Sansa Stark. What does he do? Grab Sansa to prevent her from escaping, use her as a HumanShield so Iron Man can't blast him, then accidentally dash her skull against the steps of the Great Sept of Baelor. Then he has the chutzpah to claim it was Iron Man's fault. The only reason Iron Man couldn't turn him into a bloody smear is because Cersei [[DivingSave saves his ass in the last second]] at the cost of [[AnArmAndALeg her left hand]], and even ''that'' gives him a scar matching Sandor Clegane. He barely survives the ensuing ''riot'' -- because ''most of King's Landing witnessed this'' -- but he gets his ZeroPercentApprovalRating ahead of schedule.
** [[spoiler: In-universe, Tyrion calls out Cersei and the Small Council for dressing some redhead girl as Sansa Stark, pointing out even if Ned Stark had not ''witnessed'' his daughter's death, no one would believe she "miraculously" healed a shattered skull]].
