** Earlier, [[spoiler:Makima is revealed to also be pulling one. By breaking Denji's deal with Pochita, aka Chainsaw Devil, she hoped to gain his allegiance in order to help him eating the Devils associated with difficulties plagued by humanity, such as her own sisters War, Hunger (Famine) and Death. When Pochita proved to not want to ally with her due to her breaking Denji to bring him forth, she fought him with her Zombie minions as well as brainwashed Hybrids in order to defeat him, which according to her power, will help her subjugate him to do the above but completely in her mercy. Also, if Pochita defeated her instead, her own defeat and erasure will mean humanity will be free from getting controlled and will live a freer life, which according to her, is also a desirable outcome as she will be a part of Chainsaw Man. The only thing that stopped her from winning is Denji enacting his own gambit in the previous example, which itself was a guesswork in if Makima really did see Denji as a pawn or not.]]

* ''Manga/ChainsawMan'': At the climax of Part 1, [[spoiler:Denji, knowing that he couldn't beat Makima in a straight fight, pulls a magnificent one by having Pochita act as a decoy and fight her while he himself hides within one of her slaves so he could finish her off once she's worn down from fighting Pochita. The gambit has a three-fold positive outcome: If Makima were to find out where Denji is hiding and tries to kill him, she would likely be too distracted to fight back against Pochita. If Makima beats Pochita, then Denji would finally step in and attack her by surprise while she's exhausted (and that is ''exactly'' how the fight ended). And if Pochita won the fight against Makima, well... [[ShapedLikeItself the result would be the same]] as Denji would still show up to kill her anyway.]]

* ''Manga/BlackParadox'': When Maruso discovers with her omniscience that humanity will go extinct from using the Paradonite of the afterlife, [[spoiler:which are in fact the souls of both the living and the dead]], she and the rest of the Black Paradox four resolve to defect from Dr. Suga's retrieval operation. However, as simply refusing to retrieve the Paradonite wouldn't stop them, they instead devise a plan to continue obtaining the Paradonite, stockpiling a good portion of it so that humanity will not go extinct, whilst also obtaining and protecting their own, so that they cannot die. Even if the group die, humanity ''will'' find out the truth eventually, meaning that there is ''absolutely nothing'' Dr. Suga will be able to do to avoid a gruesome death after the true nature of Paradonite is unveiled.

** In ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', the Shadow Riders/Seven Star Assassins arc from the first season is revealed to have been one by ArcVillain Kagemaru. If any of the Spirit Key Holders were defeated, then the Spirit Gates were one step closer to being opened and releasing the three Sacred Beasts/Phantasms. And even if the Shadow Riders/Seven Stars were defeated, the clashes with them would still help saturate the island with enough duel energy for the Spirit Gates to unlock on their own. At the same time, the battles would help Kagemaru find the duelist he needed for the ritual to achieve complete control of the Sacred Beasts/Phantasms, which would end up being [[TheHero Jaden]].
