Matt and his whole stable eventually would leave TNA, in the middle of what was know as their "Expedition of Gold" (The idea was win every major tag title in the world).

After traveling the world seeking titles their journey lead them to the grandest stage of them all. And that's how, at ''Wrestlemania XXXIII'', after weeks of speculation and teasing, the Hardys made their return to Wrestlemania as a surprise 4th team to enter into ladder match for the tag-team titles, which they won. And with it, succesfully completing their legendary Expedition of Gold.

However, even then, it was clear this would be a temporary respite, as the madness clearly remained, underneath the veneer of sanity, waiting to "break" once more. And then Jeff got injured, he was repeatedly defeated by Bray Wyatt, and all of this finally took it's toll on Matt; after having a new breakdown in the ring, Matt was once again engulfed in insanity. More specifically, he wasn't just Broken, but "Woken". Since then, he slowly started introducing the Broken Universe in the plane know as WWE.
