* The Brain ends up being revealed to be this in ''WesternAnimation/Animaniacs2020''. When he was a young mouse, he was used as part of an experiemtn for learned helplessness in which he was given a plate of cheese that would always shock him to the point where he was too scared to touch it even when the electricity was turned off. From that point on, he swore that he would one day be in control of himself, his surrounding, and the world.

He sure is a great example of dont fear the reaper and ineffectual villain, but all his misery and failings weren't what led him to become death. They just serve to humanise him

** Death. The poor guy is despised and treated like shit by everyone for doing his job and can't form a good human relationship. Even Peter takes pity on him.
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
I can see why one would feel pity for the poor, hopeless wretch of a terrorist but he is hardly emotionally broken let alone motivated by it to a life of crime. Quite the opposite actually, he has wanted to take over the world since kindergarten and became an international arms smuggler to do so, which was what led to his eventual fate. Maybe ineffectual sympathetic villain or jerkass woobie would do

* ''WesternAnimation/EvilConCarne'': Hector Con Carne was a Mexican billionaire playboy who wanted to rule the world until Cod Commando activated a bomb in his mansion. He was reduced to a BrainInAJar and a stomach while attached to a circus bear. He wanted to take over the world all because he lost his body as well.

* Rob from ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'' can be thought of as this. He was a background character who nobody could remember the name of, before the [[ItMakesSenseInContext universe itself decided that he was a mistake.]] When he finally got out, he was incredibly disfigured (experiencing something wherein the human equivalent would be having one's [[BodyHorror skin blown off.]]) In fact, the only reason why he's a villain at all is because he needed a role to fill in the universe, and has expressed wishing to be a [[BreakingTheFourthWall sidekick instead.]]

* Tala from ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'', while a villain and a powerful sorceress, is driven ''entirely'' by a [[IJustWantToBeLoved longing for affection and a need for someone to love her]]. As a result she's ''constantly'' used, abused, mistreated, and treated as a means to an end by Cadmus, Felix Faust, Grodd, and finally Lex Luthor, who intends to use her in a process that will resurrect Brainiac at the cost of her life, which he ''intentionally'' made painful purely ForTheEvulz. She ultimately retaliates by interfering with the process so it resurrects ''Darkseid'' instead, not caring that it will end the world (and possibly all worlds) and kill ''billions'' as long as one of those deaths is Lex.
