Based around the world of fairies, said fairies have many jobs, one of which is being a Fairy godmother. Being a Fairy Godmother is the greatest job a fairy can achieve.
Periwinkle, the hero of the tale, is just one of the many fairies that would like to become a Fairy Godmother, just like her siblings. Unfortunately for her, there's a slight problem.

Unlike many of the other fairies, Periwinkle doesn't have a drop of magic in her. And one part of the exam to become a Fairy Godmother is students having to use magic.

It takes her three tries to pass, but she manages it due to a loophole; a 50% is required to pass, and the written portion is worth 50%

Determined, she sets out to the archives to get her first assignment.

If the ominous prophecy is anything to go by, and the fact that the humans may not be on board with it, Periwinkle's first job may not be as easy as she thought it might be.

* BadassFamily: At least two of Periwinkle's siblings are fairy-godmothers, and the rest of her siblings have some strong magic flowing through their veins. Except for Periwinkle herself.
* BizarreAlienReproduction: It appears that faeries can reproduce asexually.
* BookDumb: Implied. It takes her three tries of taking her Fairy Godmother test for the writing portion for her to feel confident that she passed. She doesn't, due to missing a comma.
** To be fair, passing for her was getting full marks.
* CrapsaccharineWorld: The fairies tend to be very dismissive of humans outside of their roles in fairy tales, and don't care whether or not the humans ''want'' those roles, assuming that they know best. The way Periwinkle is treated also shows some serious flaws in their society.
* {{Determinator}}: Periwinkle is this. It says so on her character page.
* TheDreaded: Apparently fairies are outright feared in the human world.
* {{Jerkass}}: Towards Periwinkle, a lot of fairies are this to her. This is due to the rest of her family being powerful magic users and Periwinkle not having any magic.
* LoopholeAbuse: As mentioned, Periwinkle figures out that if she can score a perfect score on the test's written part, she can become a fairy godmother without any actual magic. It doesn't work out quite that way since they count a comma against her otherwise perfect written exam, but she manages to get a 50.3 score anyways.
* MagnificentBastard: {{Played with}}. Periwinkle is attempting to do this with Vallery. By bribing her with books from Fairyland.

* BecauseDestinySaysSo: The general justification for the Fairy Godmothers' work; the Fairytales indicate what's "supposed" to happen, so it's their job to bring it about, no matter what. If that happens to result in a DoomedHometown or two along the way, then...
* BigBrotherInstinct: Cedric. Full-Stop.
Of all of Periwinkle's family, Cedric is the most protective of the bunch. Lavender does what he can to look after his siblings as well, and [[WhatTheHellHero chastises Periwinkle a bit]] for unwittingly taking advantage of Cedric's protective nature.

** "The Witch" doesn't have a particularly good reputation, either; she spends all her time in her tower and never interacts with anyone outside, so she ''must'' be plotting something, right? Vallery insists that she's "probably not evil", but doesn't care enough to correct the record.
* FishOutOfWater: Peri is ''completely'' out of her depth once she enters
the human world.

* SmugSuper: It seems that fairies tend to assume that they know better than humans, and put them through fairytales even if they don't want to participate. Hydrangea also had no problem destroying a corn crop simply to move through it, and needs to be convinced not to.

Eventually, most folks stopped bothering, and spread their accounts through word-of-mouth instead, which is harder to corrupt.
