Aqua Regia, formerly known as Acid Rain, is an Argentinian cyberpunk webcomic, The setting is a fairly typical {{Cyberpunk}}, set in Argentina which has been on a dictatorship since the seventies (and counting).

The year 2054, Daniel Dietrich, a [[HiredGuns merc]][[OnlyInItForTheMoney enary]], who tries to live as better as [[ForcedintoEvil he can]], taking [[WhyDoYouKeepChangingJobs odd jobs]], from the most [[{{Courier}} mundane]], to including [[HitManWithAHeart murders]], [[SubvertedTrope not that he's happy with his life]], he's even [[HeroicBSOD shown]] being stressed because of this. [[FromBadToWorse Shit hits the fan]] when he interrupts a robbery in a [[TheConvenientStoreNextDoor local market]], he engages in a fight with a thief, and ends with Daniel badly injured and the thief dead.

Moments later he escapes because he doesn't want to end up in jail, after all, [[RealityEnsues a murder it's still a crime.]] Daniel collapses in a back alley, where he's found by [[RebelLeader Nimsi]], and contracted to fight against the country dictatorship, [[AnOfferYouCantRefuse after deliberating]], he reluctanctly accepts.

As of 2020, it'll be available on the INKR platform. The author finished it prematurely due personal problems, but now it's available to read.

* ArtEvolution: Compared to how it started, the artist improved massively after honing his skills after 5 years. It also has the added bonus of being in full color and it can look pretty when it wants to.
* AdultFear: It's part of the premise, the nightmare of the author, and the story is not overly implausible when it comes to setting at least.
* BananaRepublic: Like the original, Argentina has been in a dictatorship over 60 years.
* BarbarianLongHair: Daniel's mane and [[PeekABangs emo hair]] is a solid part of his design a this point.

* HellBentForLeather: All the way. The first chapter even is called "[[Music/JudasPriest Leather Rebel]]".
* HeroicBuild: Daniel in the flashback of the first chapter looks positively buff.
** NothingButSkinAndBones: In the present, however, not to this extreme, he looks way less muscular.

* StillWearingTheOldColors: Daniel still wears his green fatigues, scarf and hat from the army, which shows:
** WardrobeFlawOfCharacterization: He has long hair, wears combat boots with stars embedded, a red and black jacket, and other complementary colors, showing that despite his military background, he's still in a vendetta against the militia.
* UpdatedReRelease: Six months after the first upload of the comic on Manga Rock, the comic was re-released on Facebook with a new coat of paint with much flashier colors and corrected drawings trying to avert OffModel.
* WouldHitAGirl: One of robbers at the end of the first chapter gropes the poor cashier and then punches her [[PervertRevengeMode because she actually defended herself]].

Art-wise, it has a gritty, somewhat realistic style, but it's still VERY unpolished. It doesn't rely on facial expressions for gags, and it's fairly serious, with little comedy. It has a lot of [[ShoutOut Shout Outs]]. In 2017 the author called it a dead project, thus no more updates. However, in late 2019 experienced a [[UnCanceled Revival]]/ContinuityReboot on Manga Rock/MR Comics, [[https://mangarock.com/manga/mrs-serie-200238045 here]],only to be [[RunningGag cancelled once again]], although no reason was given so far why. Not available to read. The project is dead due the author having problems IRL related to it.

* AntiHero: Daniel and Nimsi are the clear examples. You could argue that their motives are good in the setting, but they're willing to engage in violence, luckily, they won't harm innocents.
* AdultFear: WordOfGod stated that while there'll be [[BodyHorror horror]] [[EldritchAbomination aplenty]], he based the premise on a recurring nightmare, that the Argentinian dictatorship comes back.
* AlternateHistory: The story is set in in a timeline in that the Argentinian [[NationalReorganizationProcess dictatorship of 1976 never stopped.]]
* ArbitraryGunPower: [[AvertedTrope Averted]], guns are equally lethal as they are in real life. Even against half-machines.
* ArtificialLimbs: The thief from the first chapter has them, he can blow up [[LudicrousGibs people]] with a mere touch. A police officer is able to shoot lightning because of his implants.
* BadassLongcoat: Ealiastar, has a nice [[HellBentForLeather leather trench coat]] with [[CreepyCrows crow feathers]].

* BarbarianLongHair: Daniel has a long mane, it's something pretty unique in a {{Cyberpunk}} setting where most heroes have short hair, mullets, mohawks, dreadlocks or undercuts. Bonus points for being pointed out that long hair is something you can get killed, both in battle and in a totalitarian society. Daniel, being a mercenary has no problem fighting with it. In flashbacks he's shown with really short hair though.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] the author has no problem drawing [[MaleFrontalNudity males]] and females naked.
* BigBrotherIsWatching: A mild example, while there's cameras everywhere. It doesn't seem to bother its inhabitants. The armed forces are quick to retaliate though.
* BoobsOfSteel: Nimsi, an example of how she has them, but at the same time can pull off athletic stunts due training, she has big boobs, but she can also pack a punch, and she's shown to be somewhat muscular in some images.
* {{Cyberpunk}}: The story begins in 2056, in a sort of futuristic Argentina with "punk" protagonists, it should be noted, that there are conventions that the story don't follow, and the technology doesn't seem too advanced.
* CompressedHair: How people with long hair hide their hair, either while wearing masks or beanies.
* CoolMask: When [[TitleDrop acid rain ]] falls, you can either [[HomeSweetHome stay at home]], or go outside masked, they range from [[AnimalMotif Animal masks]] like the cyber warthog that Daniel wears, passing through a WhiteMaskOfDoom, or non-descript ones.
* CyberpunkWithAChanceOfRain: It's on the title. Funnily, the first chapter ends up with normal rain falling.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Part of Nimsi's childhood is shown on panel, meanwhile the one of Daniel is implied, kind of [[DissonantSerenity jarring]] seeing him smiling and overall being a friendly guy. However, it can be a case of FridgeBrilliance, some people with PTSD are recommended to joke to cope with the problem.
* DashingHispanic: The majority of the cast is Argentinian, so it's a given, with various skin tones.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Nimsi kicks off the plot, but the protagonist and POV is Daniel.
* DisposingOfABody: The bald cyborg was thrown in a river at the beginning of chapter 4.

* LatinoIsBrown: Just a couple of characters fit this criteria, everyone else is caucasian, most of Argentinians can be considered white.
* LaResistance: Nimsi is the leader of a guerrilla movement who wants to get rid of the dictatorship.
* MaleFrontalNudity: The author doesn't shy away details, but it's [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools tasteful about it]].

* RealityIsUnrealistic: Daniel's hair darkens when it's wet, something that's not commonly seen in fiction is that indeed, blond people hair turns dark brown/black when wet.
* RuggedScar: Daniel, XMarksTheHero, several chapters later when he's shown naked, and he has his whole body covered in scars.
