Hot Rod is then revealed to have survived and continues to be part of the plot for the rest of season 3, while Drift is never seen again, with WordOfGod confirming his death, despite the fact that unlike Hot Rod he was unharmed before entering the pool.]]

He was the one who helped carry the dying Onyx Prime to the Well of All Sparks and chose to enter it and return to the Allspark as well, except with the intent of returning eventually as a common Cybertronian rather than to stay there forever like Onyx did. And like Cheetor, he initially couldn't remember his former life during the Age of Primes.
