Majora's Mask is [[Persona2EternalPunishment Nyarlathotep]], The Moon is Nyx, The Happy Mask Salesman is either Philemon or Igor, and almost everyone in Termina is a Persona User, which would make Link a Wild Card. The Happy Mask Salesman does give you what it essentially your first mask, or in this case, Persona. The themes of Major's Mask and Persona 3 do fit with each other, knowing that death is inescapable.

[[WMG: Major's Mask takes place in [[ChronoCross El Nido]] in the FAR FAR future]]
Termina has now become the name of the land in place of El Nido. Majora's Mask is actually the face of the Mammon Machine from Zeal that broke off when it was stabbed by the Ruby Knife during Trigger. Furthermore, the dark corruption that tainted the Masamune during Cross was the same dark magic that corrupts the mask's wearer.

Alternatively, Majora's Mask and the Frozen Flame may even be connected. Finally, the Ocarina of Time is either Lucca's Gate Key or another Chrono Trigger created by Belthasaur.

With that WMG in mind, one realizes that every time Link returns to the Dawn of the First Day, he sends the previous three day cycle to The Darkness Beyond Time. Imagine how many Majora's Masks must be floating around from all the aborted cycles.... The Time Devourer is probably the least of everyone's worries.

I know, it's the most wild of the wild mass guesses on this site, but think about it. There's nothing in any of the games that he's appeared in that suggests that he is evil. (Granted, I've only played Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, if there's a game he appeared in that did have him as evil, feel free to correct me.) People always assume that he'd evil due to his creepy nature, but not all creepy people are evil. Heck, [[Series/DoctorWho The Doctor]] has a folder to himself on that series's [[NightmareFuel/DoctorWho Nightmare Fuel page]], but no one's going to say he's evil. The only thing that he does that even comes close to evil is when he shakes Link around like a rag doll, but a) he was in the middle of a monumental freakout due to the idea that Termina's ultimate evil might return, I think we can forgive him for a brief moment of losing control, and b) [[PhantomHourglass Link getting shaken like that]] [[SkywardSword is nothing new.]] Aside from that, yeah, he gets that creepy face, but both times it appears, it's justified. In Ocarina of Time, Link has taken his products without giving him his money back. What kind of business would it be if he just let that slide? Compared to what others might do, a little nightmare face seems benign. The second time, in Majora's Mask, is during the aforementioned monumental freakout, when he was afraid that Termina's ultimate evil would bring about the apocalypse, and learned that Link hadn't followed through on his promise to get the mask back. A little anger there wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility, and he cools down as soon as Link swears to get the mask back at all costs. And finally, when he says that Link's met with a terrible fate, the first time is when Link's been robbed completely, transformed into a Deku Scrub, and trapped in another dimention due for apocolypse in 3 days, and the only other time is when the moon crashes down, in which case Link is ''experiencing'' the apocolypse. That's not evil, that's stating the obvious. If anything, he seems relatively benign from some of his lines at the ending. No real proof of evil.

*** It is quite possible that this is something the developers intended but I think it should be noted that the famed five stages of grief are actually specifically about the grief one feels with a terminal illness and don't commonly apply to other forms of grief. It's still mistaken enough that the developers could have intended it to be relate to Link but I think it's unlikely.

** Just a thought, does Link even know that the Dead Deku Tree is the Deku Bulter's son? Does he even know that he that the mask he possesses could possibly contain the Deku Bulter's son spirit? For all he knows he was cursed to become a Deku and when the Song of Healing was played, he could have simply thought the mask was a aftereffect of the song? Deku Bulter did say he reminds him of his son, but Link doesn't have to be wearing the Deku Mask to race him and/or receive the mask of scents so it could it mean anything.

[[WMG:Majora's Mask is Ganondorf's counterpart]]
Notice how all of it's forms are named "Majora's something", but never just "Majora". According to the manga adaptation, the original Majora was a dragon, defeated by an unnamed hero, implied to be the Fierce Deity. That dragon was Demise's counterpart, with the Fierce Deity being the counterpart of the very first Link from Skyward Sword's backstory. The Mask holds a sliver of Majora's essence, like Ganondorf, being a partial reincarnation of a BiggerBad, vanquished long ago.

[[WMG: The Mask is a captured spirit/god trying to get free]]
The mask salesman never really spoke of the being sealed in the mask, only of its power and use by the ancient tribe. Also, I never interpreted it as the mask itself that sought to "consume everything", but rather the moon given a twisted life to fulfill the mask's aims. Thus, the mask always seemed to mainly only desire ''destruction''. Why then? If masks contain souls, perhaps Majora's mask came from a god that was trapped by the maskmakers and forced to serve them. Trapping a god would take a powerful seal, and that seal might be unbreakable without the kind of force that can destroy a world. This god is then really just desperate to break its bonds and go free, and will use anyone and even destroy worlds to do so. That's why when Link finally defeated the Wrath it seemed almost like a shell containing a mass of light, it was exactly that. This's why it appeared as a child identical to the others, and why it called Link a "bad guy", because he was the "villain" who was keeping it from finally achieving freedom. And when Link finally broke the spell, it departed in a huge stream of light streaking across the sky in the ending.

[[WMG: Majora and Fierce Deity are two NeutralEvil Gods who go to different extremes.]]
Majora may be considered somewhat of a Fatalist and thinks that any attempt to stop what is determined is a crime against nature. He sees Termina as something that will end up destroyed in a cataclysm and that Link attempting to stop it providing everyone with false hope, which is why he chooses to engage Link directly.

Fierce Deity believes that all circumstance can alter the events of the future and seeks to eliminate death completely, granting Link the power to fight Majora more easily and alter the future for Termina. He may be planning to pull a GrandTheftMe on Link and use his time powers to create a StableTimeLoop in which noone will die. Which has it's own problems down the line.

[[http://www.cracked.com/article_20614_6-insane-video-game-fan-theories-that-make-total-sense_p2.html As speculated upon here]]:
** The HubLevel, Clock Town, is denial - everyone can see the moon is falling, but no-one can actually deal with it. Also an example of ElephantInTheLivingRoom.
** Woodfall, most particularly Southern Swamp and Deku Palace, is anger: The royal family is in search for a scapegoat due to the disappearance of the Deku Princess, and said scapegoat was actually ''helping'' the Princess before her capture.
** Snowhead is bargaining: HoldingOutForAHero, specifically Darmani begging Link to solve the problem of the region's climate since Darmani himself died in the attempt.
** Great Bay is depression: Lulu laments the loss of her eggs, Mikau laments having been unable to retrieve them, and the Fisherman laments that the murky water rendered fishing impossible.
** Ikana Valley is acceptance, because almost everyone there is already dead anyway, and is only waiting for one like Link to ease their regrets and lift the curse that originates from Stone Tower.
** The theory also suggests that Link himself goes through the five stages of grief due to his self-exile that resulted from his friend Navi having bid him farewell (and according to Hyrule Historia and the confirmation that he eventually became the Hero's Shade in ''[[TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]'', he is unable to reach the stage of acceptance until that very game, after his descendant learns all of the Hidden Skills).

[[WMG: The "game" in the US commercials is some sort of dimensional artifact, and the kid who "plays" it is directly helping Link in his own quest.]]
Either it was already cursed (by Skull Kid or Majora themself, most likely) and the poor kid who must play it to completion had no idea what he was getting himself into, or Earth's moon began to fall seemingly of its own accord and the cartridge is benign; either way, it's the only way this kid can contact and assist Link. They quickly figure out what went wrong: Earth and Termina "synchronized", and their moons are dropping at similar rates (keep in mind, time passes much faster in-game than in real life). Luckily, while there's no way to rewind time on Earth, doing so on Termina drastically slows down Earth's moon for a few hours.

Since the game ends with Link saving Termina, it's safe to assume that in the commercial's micro-continuity, Earth was saved too.

* There is one flaw in this, however: Completing Anju and Kafei's Sidequest requires you to let Sakon mug the Bomb Shop Owner's mother, otherwise he won't show up on the night of the 2nd day with the Big Bomb Bag and thus Kafei never tracks him to Ikana, locking the quest completely. So one of those has to be left unattended. If anything, that merely means all the possible timelines converge into two major ones where Link helps everyone but Kafei and Anju, and one where Link helps everyone but the Bomb Shop Lady.

Going on what has been said about the mask, even though it looks like Link it has been described as being evil or at the least malevolent. My theory is that when this mask was created it used to souls instead of one for more power and since we see no counterpart for Ganondorf I believe his counterparts soul along with Links was used in it's creation.

When we first find out Link isn't a Kokiri, we are told his mother fled to the forest, and Link was taken and raised along with the other forest inhabitants. The Deku Tree just assumed Link was Hylian, since he had no knowledge of Termina. In actuality, Link's mother fled from Termina for some reason (probably to escape the Lost Tribe, or because Skull Kid was annoying everyone by bitching about the giant leaving him, or whatever) and thought the safest place for her and her baby would be a different world entirely, which she assumes would be safe. Unfortunately, Hyrule is anything but safe, as we know from [=OoT=]. This would mainly explain why Link has no Termina counterpart, since he's originally from there. On top of that...
* Yes, it is explained by the Great Deku Tree(or his sapling) that Link's mother dropped Link off in Kokiri Forest. However, when you go to meet young princess Zelda for the first time, she asks you for your name. When you reply, she states that your name sounds familiar, despite her dream having no speech, as far as she explains. Also, take note of her parents. We know for a fact that with Zelda in the castle is her father, the king, but no queen. Also, if I remember this bit correctly, Link's mother was running from Ganondorf, whose plans were centered around Hyrule Castle because of its proximity to the Temple of Time.

While the rumor about town is that Kafei and Cremia are in love with each other and that Kafei's run off to the farm to be with her, that rumor turns out to be completely false. One part of the rumor is generally assumed by fans to be true, however, and that's the part where Cremia has a crush on Kafei. There's actually no explicit evidence for this in game, at least not Kafei specifically. From what we hear from the mouths of both Cremia and Romani, all we know is that Cremia has a crush on "somebody" in town, and "that person" is getting married on the night of the carnival. There's no name or even gender explicitly stated, meaning that Romani's comment could just as easily apply to Anju as to Kafei. [[WMG: The Fierce Deity's Mask was used to united the multiple timelines in which Link helped everyone]]
Since the description for the FDM states that it may be equal in power to Majora's Mask, when Link defeats Majora, he uses its power to fix all the issues he couldn't get to in a single loop, just as Majora caused many of those issues just before the loop began. However, neither mask is powerful enough to bring back the dead, so Darmani, Mikau, and the Deku Butler's Son remain masks.
