ghost wick fix

Excalibur was developed after Boorman's failed attempt at filming a live attempt at LOTR; Boorman then went on to film an adaptation of arthurian myth that has strong Tolkien influences. In Boorman's vision, this tale is set thousands of years after the war of the ring, when magic is almost completely gone from the world and Middle Earth is now just becoming Europe; Merlin is one of the last of the wizards (perhaps a blue wizard) and Uther and Arthur are the last descendants of the line of Gondor; Excalibur is none other than Narsil; Merlin intends to go west before Morgana's betrayal("This world is not for me anymore") and his whole purpose by the valar is to mold Arthur as an example of how to rule to a godless unmagical future; and the lady in the lake could well be Arwen given some sort of semi-immortality to look after Gondor's line. The grail is none other than an artifact of the valar or of an earlier age, and when Arthur sails into the west at the end, he is being taken to the Undying Lands, having been given the only honour of doing so for being the last of Gondor's line.

A lot of this is based on leaps of imagination by myself and it isn't canon but it is a nice merger of the two tales.

[[WMG: Alistaire Stuart ''is'' The Tenth Doctor]]
Oh, sorry that should have been "Alistaire Stuart is a Time Lord". Oh, well. Anyway, he's clearly the Doctor traveling to some point in time (future or past, it's hard to say given how weird the chronology is) when one of the Brigadier's relatives is in charge, assuming the Brig's name and pretending to be the current Brig's brother as part of his cover. And WHO is one of UNIT's cover names.
** Or for copyright reasons, he's Professor Gamble.
** Building off that, Alysande Stuart is actually Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, going by her middle name or something.

[[WMG: Every version of Captain Britain is a reincarnation of KingArthur; the Excalibur team is his unconscious attempt to recreate the knights of the round table]]
* Brian is Arthur, fairly obviously. He even gets offered a choice of amulet and sword by Merlyn, paralleling the scabbard/sword choice Merlin offers Arthur in Malory.
* Meggan is Guinevere
* Nightcrawler is Lancelot; a foreign KnightInShiningArmor type who wins away Guinevere's heart but is arguably worthier of it.
* Either Kitty or Alistaire serve as Merlin, supplying the technological stuff. Merlyn exists in this continuity, obviously, but needs a smaller facet of himself to operate in this particular segment of the Ominverse.
** In some early tales, Merlin had a twin sister named Ganiceda; maybe that's Alysande.
* Phoenix is there for WolverinePublicity.
* [[TheVamp Courtney Ross/Saturnyne]] is Morgan.

[[WMG: Excalbur is partly intended by John Boorman to be a sequel to Tolkien's Lord of the Rings]]
"''Behold! The Sword of Power! Excalibur! Forged when the world was young, and bird and beast and flower were one with man, and death was but a dream!''"
