It seems strange for so many different animals to have evolved humanoid traits naturally, but as we learn, any animal can potentially hybridize with any other. Perhaps hominids did evolve just as in our universe, but because of the human habit of BoldlyComing they ended up hybridizing themselves into extinction with any species they came across, and eventually their hybrid descendants would spread humanoid traits to even progressively larger or smaller animals, avoiding the most egregious HotSkittyOnWailordAction. After awhile, the human trait of going after AnythingThatMoves was diluted, allowing the usual animal tendency to stick with their own species dominant (with some throwbacks here or there).
