[[WMG: In a sequel, Midge should be more of a character]]
After being so much of a joke in the movie, it would be justice to give Midge more depth in a potential sequel. Since she basically just as an outcast as Weird Barbie and the other controversial outcasts Barbies and Kens, it would be heartwarming to see the Barbie actually treat Midge like a friend as she's supposed to be. Maybe even have scene where they help Midge deliver her baby.

* In addition to both being Warner Bros. products, they both seem to follow roughly the same rules for how their LivingToys function. They occupy a separate "pocket universe" where they live independent lives, but can be affected by those who play with them.
** Also Will Ferrel plays the same character, just at work vs at home.

Granted, there do seem to have at used previously been other Allans who escaped from Barbieland, but he could be one who came back, or one who learned about Barbieland from N*SYNC and decided to make a life for himself there.

The trailers and ads don’t even remotely hide that he and the other Kens basically got a whole “living accessories to their Barbies” thing going on AND that this is clearly weighing down on him. Then of course there’s [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1IgAEejvqM this whole song]] where he’s seen leading a charge of Kens to battle in the Barbie world in some kinda evil fur-lined wrestler coat garb. I think that Ken will genuinely start as a good guy and ally to Barbie, but as the movie goes on and he deals with more abuse as well as seeing how men and women are more equalized in the real world, he eventually snaps and ditches Barbie to go back to Barbieland to lead a Ken Rebellion. This would force Barbie to have to try and find her way back home and save it and when confronting Ken, the breakdown in the song would happen and Barbie would have to try and talk him down similar to how Emmet talked Lord Business down in the Lego Movie.
* Ken might have an encounter in the real world with an action figure (possibly [[Franchise/MastersOfTheUniverse He-Man]] in a cross-promotional ShoutOut) and decide that's what he wants to be rather than an accessory.
* [[spoiler: Confirmed. While visiting the real world, Ken observes the flipped gender roles and more-stereotypical behaviors of men such as working out, riding horses, getting served beer by women in short dresses, and the like. {{WMG: Slightly escalating from the above, Barbieland as seen in this movie is based on the Barbie play of individuals hired to work at Mattel.]]
This may explain why Mattel is aware of Barbieland's existence and how it works, as well as the population-it seems too high for it to be one person's creation, but a lot lower than one would expect for embodying the whole world or even Los Angeles itself. Events in Barbieland affecting Mattel product lines could also be reflecting this, as maybe even those who (unlike Gloria) never play with Barbies past childhood remain somewhat attuned to Barbieland.

[[WMG: The Barbieland we see in the movie is specifically the world created by Gloria's playing with Barbies]]
Evidence:
* Stereotypical Barbie is directly affected by Gloria's emotions
* Gloria says she had a Weird Barbie and the flashback of Weird Barbie's creation heavily suggests that was Gloria
* Gloria was shown having an entire bin or Barbies which would provide origins for the other Barbies in the land but also their small population
* None of the Kens have any important role or individual identity because while she knew they existed she never had one herself
* She's fully aware of the Barbie toys being real and what the implications of one coming to the real world even though it's apparently only happened once before. Was it her Skipper who came to the real world before?
