* CordonBleughChef: Despite making food such as an entire loaf of bread hollowed out and filled with salad, Michiru’s food is surprisingly edible. Not great, but not bad.
* CosmeticCatastrophe: When it comes to makeup, only Amane regularly wears any. Yumiko manages to competently apply some when directed, Michiru puts on five different false eyelashes since she thinks they’ll make her look tsundere (but probably really just because she got bored) while Makina looks like a goth clown. Sachi… [[DiscretionShot we don’t get to see]] Sachi’s overwhelming failure because the girls say they would feel bad for Sachi if Yuuji saw her.
* CovertPervert: Though at first she seems to be the one modest female in the story, it turns out Yumiko just has the sense to hide her interest. She probably thinks more about sex than the secretly timid [[LovableSexManiac Amane]]. The only one to really catch on is Sachi who says pretty bluntly that if you want to keep your internet searches secret you should probably put a password longer than six characters on your computer.
* CrazyPrepared: Sachi has everything prepared. If asked for something she doesn’t have, she’ll immediately go get it and put it into her specialty storage locker.
* CruelToBeKind: Michiru’s [[spoiler:transplanted personality]] tries to make everything easier for her. Much to her surprise, Yuuji refuses to play along and makes Michiru do her own difficult work. Doesn’t make even that easy for her. Considering Michiru’s earlier insecurities, he’s clearly doing it on purpose. The result is still him forcing Michiru to embarrass herself at length and repeatedly when he could make it easy for her or at least play dumb and ignore Michiru’s guardian completely.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight
** Michiru is slightly uneasy regarding Yuuji since his background is so mysterious. In Amane’s route, before giving her approval she tells Amane that if he turns out to be a secret agent, spy, terrorist or something it’s not her fault Amane got involved with him. As should be clear from this point despite it never being stated, Yuuji is exactly that sort of person.
** Makina’s interpretations of everyone’s character is occasionally spot on. For example, claiming that Yumiko is distant now but secretly wants to play the long suffering OnlySaneMan. Completely true.
* CuteLittleFangs: Given Michiru’s attempts to act tsundere, maybe the little pointy tooth is also an affectation.
* CuttingTheKnot: In Sachi's backstory, she was tasked with canceling a test. Lacking any other means [[spoiler:she set the school on fire.]] When brought up in the present, [[spoiler:fire isn't enough, so they blow up the school instead. However, it's actually just to make Sachi realize she shouldn't be following orders like that by having her destroy something she values.]]

* ADateWithRosiePalms
** Nearly attempted by Amane when she sneaks into Yuuji’s room and doesn’t see him there. A disinterested Yuuji had entered the room behind her and upon seeing her simply went to the fridge to get a drink while wondering if he should let her know he was actually there. It’s also a decently frequent topic of discussion.
*** In Yumiko’s route [[spoiler:he seems to have learned his lesson and manages to defuse the situation without letting her know he was awake the whole time. Until the next morning, anyway.]]
** Though he doesn’t appear to have caught on, he clearly walks in on Chizuru doing something similar when he barges in intending to ask permission for the class to go to the beach.

* DeadpanSnarker: When accosted by police, Yuuji moves between bare basic compliance, absolute silence and heavy sarcasm.
* DeclarationOfProtection: [[spoiler: Kazuki repeatedly says that she'll save Amane from their situation, even if it costs her own life, during Amane's flashback.]]

* DefrostingIceQueen: Yumiko, naturally. In her route, she defrosts so much that she eventually turns into complete mush. Outside it, she simply mellows out like Makina said she would.

* TheDitz: Michiru tends to be pretty flaky and doesn’t seem too bright, though the issues she’s had with stress in the past certainly don’t help her in the present.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Michiru apparently hates both cinnamon and sour things, though she’s convinced herself that drinking a horribly sour Vitamin C drink is good for her.
* DoggedNiceGirl: Amane confesses pretty early and lets it be known that she’s still interested from time to time, but for the most part tries not to get in the way or anything.

* DrivesLikeCrazy: Amane is not to be trusted with a vehicle. Get her excited and she’ll start street racing.

* DudeShesLikeInAComa: [[spoiler:Of all people, Yumiko begins ‘massaging’ Yuuji in what she assumes to be his sleep, much to his confusion.]]

* EmotionlessGirl: Sachi’s mood never varies from a low level polite friendliness. No anger, no joy, no sadness, no stress. It starts to worry Yuuji.

* {{Expy}}: Sachi seems to have a strong basis in the character of [[VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}} Hisui]]. They have the same eye and hair colors, both dress as maids and have similar attitudes. [[spoiler:More tellingly, however, is that the personalities of have taken the same one eight turn from being a GenkiGirl when they were the friend of the main character to near EmotionlessGirl.]]
* ExtremeDoormat: Sachi will do absolutely anything you ask her to. She has not refused a request once in the entire time she’s gone to Mihama. Even joking requests are taken absolutely seriously, which can even put her in danger. She actively shies away from making her own decisions or setting the goals or actions of the group.
* EvilStoleMyFaith: Yuuji calmly and clearly states his own atheism, but unlike much of what he says it appears to be nothing more than an opinion and not necessarily something the audience is supposed to believe. It’s simply a conclusion he reached based on his own harsh experiences. [[spoiler:The heart donor girl pretty flatly calls him out on acting so confident about it when he has no experience in the matter. She is, after all, sort of proof that it’s not as simple as he thinks if nothing else.]]
* EyesAlwaysShut: Sakurai, [[spoiler: one of the basketball club girls that were stranded during Amane's flashback.]]

** When Makina asks if Yuuji will be her new papa, he begins massaging his eyebrows.
** During Yumiko's route, after she and Yuuji come back to the dorm after a downpour, this is his reaction when Amane tell him not to "do" her while she has a cold.

* ForcedToWatch: [[spoiler:Makina is forced to watch as her kidnappers kill her father. To add insult to injury, they leave her there for six days to watch as her father's body rots in front of her.]]
* {{Foil}}: The friendly, social Michiru plays the foil to the gloomy, isolated Yumiko [[spoiler:though it’s actually in their basic similarity rather than their differences: Both have severe abandonment issues and merely cope with it in different ways.]] Because of this, their personalities are noted to clash a lot.

* ForgottenChildhoodFriend: [[spoiler:Sachi was Yuuji’s only friend before his life turned to complete shit. She remembers, he doesn’t.]]
* FridgeLogic: The concept of the trope is explained InUniverse [[spoiler: by Kazuki to Amane]] as "The reminiscence effect" during her flashback, where the analysis of the information becomes easier after some time has passed, after the brain creates new connections at the processing of the memory.
* TheGadfly: Yuuji spends a lot of his time picking on the girls, but he doesn’t seem to be doing it on purpose about half of the time. It seems to be a special favorite of his to take people’s jokes seriously.
* GenderBlenderName: Yuuji’s sister was called Kazuki, a fairly masculine name, something a certain classmate picked up on.
* GenericCuteness: Michiru seems to be a victim of this. The other girls are noted at several points to be quite attractive while Michiru is trying to make herself stand out more by dyeing her hair and acting tsundere. By appearances, however, she’s about on par with the rest apart from the goofy faces she makes.

* GirlishPigtails: Michiru attempts to cultivate a tsundere image and first bleaches her hair and then puts it in twintails to complete it.

** Michiru names the stray cat she sort of adopted Kittymeow (Nekonya) though she at least realizes this is a terrible name. Eventually, she grudgingly admits that maybe the cat is sorta kinda hers, but that she’s been calling it Kittymeow [[SubvertedTrope because she doesn’t want to give it a real name]] and get attached. [[DoubleSubversion Then she starts calling it Meowmmel]] as a portmanteau of Kittymeow and Rommel.
** Invoked by Yuuji to make sure Michiru never calls him by a nickname again. He starts calling her Mitcher and all the other girls similarly annoying, lazy things based off their real names and she just can’t take it.
* GoodParents: Amane's parents are implied to genuinely care for her and wish her the best. Although they are mostly passed over, Amane only ever says good things about them.

* CannotKeepASecret: You can ask Sachi to do pretty much anything and she’ll handle it for you, but one thing she can’t seem to do is keep her mouth shut. No matter how much you beg or plead.
* CannotTellAJoke: Kazuki, Yuuji’s sister, could not tell a funny joke to save her life. Delivery, timing and content were entirely warped.

** ‘The scales have fallen from my eyes’ is an expression that is generally viewed as Sachi’s, though she only uses it about half a dozen times throughout the story, most of them early on.
** May be a product of the translation, but "That a fact..." can very well be Yuuji's, since he repeated that sentence to various types of moments.
* CaughtTheHeartOnHisSleeve: At the end of a date with Sachi and Yuuji, she admits that this was probably the happiest day of her life and grabs on to his sleeve since she doesn’t want to go home yet.
* ChickMagnet: It’s hinted that Yuuji is probably quite popular with girls, though considering the small cast size it’s difficult to tell. What is clear, though, is that there’s some UST not only with the girls, but also with the principal and even JB.

** Makina considers herself stupid, but Yuuji quickly discovers that she has a photographic memory and she can actually be quite witty. [[spoiler:She did better before watching her father die and rot in front of her.]]
** Kazuki, Yuuji's sister, was smart enough to give Yuuji the impression that true genius is probably not really worth it. She could memorize books as images and read them in her head later, was an instant expert at most things she tried and was a very clever planner.
* ChristmasCake: Chizuru is still single, a bit of a prickly issue for her. She and Yumiko share a moment reflecting on this in the common route since she can see Yumiko ending up the same way if she keeps being too timid around Yuuji.
* ClassClown: Michiru acts like a spaz [[spoiler:because even amusing others with her own failure lets her feel a little less useless.]]

* TheAce: Sachi is intelligent, athletic, dutiful, domestic and even a hard worker.

** Michiru is pretty touchy about her chest size. Her only consolation is comparing herself to Makina.
** In Amane’s flashback, [[spoiler:Kazami Kazuki]] basically said she declined to offer joint bathing to Amane because the comparison between the two would depress her. Mind you, this was during early middle school. [[spoiler:She was just making excuses, though, and was secretly building a stash in the woods.]]

* AllGiveAndNoTake: Yuuji suspects that Michiru is acting as selfish as possible towards Sachi precisely to see how much she can get away with. Apparently quite a lot. [[SubvertedTrope However]], she does have a way of stepping in with really bad lies to help Sachi feel better when she messes up. There’re also a lot of little things that she takes care of that Yuuji doesn’t notice.

* AloofDarkhairedGirl: Yumiko is perpetually hostile and distant, though she'll at least participate in some group activities if she isn't expected to get too involved.

* AttackHello: Yumiko generally greets Yuuji early on by trying to slam his finger in the door or attacking him with a knife. She gives up mostly because Yuuji points out that she’s never going to succeed in landing an attack.

* AttentionWhore: Michiru acts like a tsundere so she’ll stand out more.

* Badass: Yuuji is implied from the beginning but it's only shown outright on the routes themselves, some more than others. The [[spoiler: operative number 9029]] is only given to the best of the best in his "company".
* BadLiar: Michiru is an absolutely terrible liar whether attempting to use her ‘skills’ for good (comforting Sachi by claiming she loves melted ice cream) or evil (claiming she has no idea where this cat that is most certainly not named Kittymeow came from) though most people are generally willing to let it slide.

* PosthumousCharacter: Yuuji occasionally mentions his older sister and master, but both have been dead for some time. [[spoiler:Or at least, his master has. He has some suspicions regarding Kazuki, though no real concrete belief that she lived.]]
** It's revealed in Amane's bad end that [[spoiler:Kazuki is alive, but nobody ever found her]].
** It is also strongly implied in Makina's route and Yumiko's bad end that [[spoiler:she ended up in a high-up position in Yuuji's company, but it is never confirmed.]]

[[ZigzaggedTrope And then back again,]] when Amane's classmates demonize her for being the "cockroach" that left the jar after eating her companions, despite she never actually doing it.]]

* [[spoiler:InformedAttribute: During Amane's flashback, everyone in the basketball club is stated to have been in different stages of severe malnutrition, but none of them have different sprites from the beggining of the sequence until the end of it, including the CG's.]]

* LimitedWardrobe: There’s clothing for school uniforms and generally one set of casual clothing. In a girl’s route, you might see something like Michiru dressing up a little or Sachi wearing normal clothing, but that’s it.
** Given the media, it's somewhat understandable that the girls appear to wear the same clothes often, but in Sachi's case it's actually a PlotPoint. [[spoiler: Wich leads to a double [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming heartwarming]] and [[CrowningMomentOfFunny funny]] moment on her route once she change her clothes before her date with Yuuji]]. She only uses her school clothes and, outside of it, her maid uniform, because the others suggested to her and she herself is very fond of them.

** Amane's parents are also heavily implied to genuinely care for her and wish her the best. Although they are mostly passed over, Amane only ever says good things about them.

* SadisticChoice: [[spoiler:Every route short of Amane's don't end with the other girls' ailment being removed, meaning that while they've all had improvements from Yuuji staying there, none of the girls Yuuji ends up with ever truly gets "better".]]

** It's entirely possible that those who cared about their daughters tried to get therapy for them, but couldn't manage to get one that really worked for them. They may also be afraid that the worst case scenario would happen, and the therapy only made things far worse by having a therapist that doesn't suit them.

* TooMuchInformation: When Amane launches into a spiel about oral sex in front of Yumiko, the latter’s eyes start glazing over while she makes it quite clear she wants Amane to just stop talking about it already.

* NeverFoundTheBody: Or rather ‘found the body, but not all of it.’ Namely, [[spoiler:Kazuki’s head was never discovered and she had a little trick to make it seems like there was one more of something than there appeared. Unfortunately, due to a random interruption Amane and Yuuji never bother to investigate.]]
