In it, you play as a spirit cat, who has the ability to switch between material and energy realm. It finds out of the monstrous dark being known as Child of Energy, whose presence caused the forest to be disrupted by an earthquake and lava flows: it has also captured most other spiritual animals, and placed them in the path of a lava flow. Your cat obviously sets out to stop the Child and rescue the animals.

!! Wenjia contains examples of the following tropes:
* AndYourRewardIsClothes: Getting set numbers of light orbs unlocks alternate skins.
* DoubleJump: Justified, as your spirit cat literally creates a tiny platform right underneath its feet to push off of.
* CollectionSidequest: All levels have three light orbs to collect.
* DimensionalTraveller: You are playing as one, since that ability is essential for getting past the many obstacles.
* IndyEscape: One level regularly has identical boulders roll down the very hill you need to get up on.
* MetaMultiplayer: There's a online leaderboard that grades players on how quickly they can complete individual levels and/or the entire game.
* OneHitpointWonder: Played straight with the player character.
* SpikesOfDoom: Black and pink vines act in this manner. One level even has a tunnel completely lined with these, and the only way through is to regularly switch from the normal world to the energy one, which has currents lifting the cat up, and back again, before the current lifts you straight into the top spikes.
* SuperDrowningSkills: Falling into water amounts to instant death.
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Cat-sized interconnected portals are present on all of the levels.
* TimedMission: Some levels only give you set amount of time to collect the light orb before it vanishes.
