Added DiffLines:

* AnimalJingoism: The unknown bugs don't seem to get along well with anything; They'll swarm and leech the boy and the dog unknowns to death if they see either. They're the only unknown creatures that don't coexist peacefully with the other unknowns.

Added DiffLines:

* SuperDrowningSkills: The unknown bugs don't seem to be capable of swimming or breathing underwater, vanishing completely as soon as they slip under the surface. It's common for puzzles involving them to end with the bugs being dropped or lured into the ocean.

Developed by Creator/SCEJapanStudio, ''rain'' is a Creator/{{Sony}} UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 exclusive ActionAdventure title released on the UsefulNotes/PlayStationNetwork in the fall of 2013. A nameless boy, upon seeing the silhouette of a girl being chased by an unknown entity, wanders out into the rain of the city until he begins turning invisible like her. The boy discovers various other transparent creatures roaming around town, hostile to the girl and him. He must find a way to her among the endless rain, walking in a newly-discovered world only revealed by it.

The uniqueness of ''rain'' is the setting itself: the boy can only be seen while standing in pouring rain, as is the girl and the mysterious creatures. By walking towards shelter, players will only see the boy's footprints, so it's up to them to utilize the boy's visibility in the rain to navigate the city, solve puzzles and evade the creatures.

Compare ''VideoGame/LostInShadow'', except it uses a LivingShadow in place of rain.

!!''rain'' provides examples of the following:
[[hardline]]
%%* ActionAdventure
* AllJustADream: The boy and the girl eventually make it to the one house with light coming from it [[spoiler: and find the girl asleep in bed.]] Combined with the fact that the boy was also sick in bed at the beginning of the story, this implies that he and the girl are having a shared fever dream.
* AnotherDimension: Chapters 7 and 8 take place in the dark, twisted world of The Unknown.
%%* BenevolentArchitecture: At least in the "real world"
%%** MalevolentArchitecture: Upon entering Chapter 7; in fact, the environment looks like a pastiche of "[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativity_%28M._C._Escher%29 Relativity]]" by Creator/MCEscher.
%%* BoyMeetsGirl
%%* CinematicPlatformGame
* ControllableHelplessness: Averted; despite the Unknown catching up to the boy at certain points in the game, the girl will invariably ensure he gets around by giving him an additional platform to reach higher positions and escape it.
%%* DarkWorld: If the mysterious invisible creatures don't clue players in, the fact that there's only two major sources of light (the moon and a single house) in Chapters 7 and 8 should.
* {{Determinator}}: The Unknown; [[spoiler:even though it's trapped in a seemingly inescapable cage]], it manages to get out and continue hunting the boy and girl.
* EscortMission: Averted. The boy and the girl work as a team and mutually assist each other.
* HumanLadder: The boy and the girl regularly use this to reach things that are too high for them.
%%* EverythingsBetterWithRainbows: During the ending.
%%* KidHero
%%* ImplacableMan: The Unknown. The only reason why it's not TheJuggernaut full-out is that it can be blocked by strong barricades.
%%* {{Minimalism}}
%%* MysteriousWaif: Played with - the boy (including the player) assumes the girl is this trope. Once they get past the circus, [[spoiler:the girl is just an IllGirl like the boy is]].
* NoNameGiven: The actual names of the boy and the girl are never specified.
%%* SceneryPorn: Combined with WhenItRainsItPours with the local architecture, this is bound to occur.
