* SceneryGorn: As expected, earth isn't a pretty sight to behold after demons took over mankind, with collapsed buildings and ruins all over the place for scenery, and with overflowing lava all over the streets. And then you add to the gorn by slaughtering hundreds of demons onscreen leaving behind a glorious carpet of red behind.

* ConvectionSchmonvection: Despite the huge amount of lava pools all over the place, you can walk around their edges without getting hurt. The only way to be killed by the lava is by falling in.

* NinetiesAntiHero: You're a blatant one lifted straight from a 90s DC comic-book, hitting every single cliche along the way. CoveredWithScars? Check. Musclebound bare chest? Check. Lugs weapons as large as yourself to kick ass? Check. Armed to the teeth, including a BadassBandolier of shells? Check. Slaughtering enemies to the beat of a 90s-ish rock soundtrack? Check, check, and check.

Hellbound is a Retraux FirstPersonShooter and the "best 90s-style FPS released in 2022" developed by Saibot Studios, one whose graphics and gameplay are inspired by the original VideoGame/Doom. Except this time, the demons from another world are coming for us.

In the future, an unspecified apocalypse has unleashed HellOnEarth, with demons and monsters swiftly overwhelming humanity. With the world's surface in ruins, you, a half-demon spawn, are alone against the legions emerging from the underworld across seven action-packed, gorn-loaded levels.

----
!! "I'm taking back this planet... one motherfucker at a time!"
* AfterTheEnd: The game is set years after an apocalyptic horde of demons from hell successfully conquered the world, with each and every stage depicing HellOnEarth in full-swing.
* AlienSky: Due to hell being unleashed in full-swing, the skies are dirty-green with at least three deformed-looking suns, and constant bouts of thunder raining from the clouds.
* AndTheAdventureContinues: You defeat Ferlot, the most powerful of the demons and their ruler, and shuts down the portal. But beyond it, you see more demons in the horizon, and thirsting for more blood, you then step in with a smile.
* BigBad: Ferlot is the Demon Lord who rules over the legions, and the only boss in the entire game. Naturally, you fight him in the last stage.
* BloodKnight: You.
--> I'm the best at what I do. And what I do is kill motherfuckers.
* DecapitationPresentation: The cover art and title screen shows you holding a severed demon head.
* EndlessGame: The "Survival" Mode, which have you killing demons non-stop in an arena that constantly generates ammo and pickups, until you expire.
* ExcusePlot: There's a backstory about how some human experimentations accidentally summoned legions of demons from the netherworld into earth, but all that was brushed aside considering the demon infestation was already in full-swing when the game begins. You just keep killing demons and creatures without really thinking too much about the plot.
* HornedHumanoid: Several of the humanoid-looking demons have gigantic, goat-like horns.
* IdiosyncraticDifficultyLevels: Just like in Doom
** Noob
** Normal
** Old School
** HELLMARE! exclamation is in the title screen
* InspirationNod: As if the game being a massive homage to Doom isn't obvious enough already, the title logo (shown on promotional materials, the game's website, cover art, title screen and top of this page) even looks like the one from Doom!
* KeystoneArmy: Subverted with Ferlot; killing him seems to end the demon infestation, but you can see more demons behind Ferlot's lair. And so you decide to enter the portal into hell to continue fighting.
* KillEnemiesToOpen: Most levels have entrances to the next area than can only be accessed after killing every demon within proximity. And there are stages where you can see an exit... right next to portals that dispenses loads and loads of enemies, and you'll need to kill everything until the portals run out of demons it can summon as the exit opens. Said area usually comes with this announcement:
--> TIME TO SURVIVE!\\
KILL EVERYTHING THAT MOVES
* LavaPit: There are pools of lava all over the city, which costs you a life if you slip. More often than not you'll need to jump on floating platforms or half-submerged buildings with streams of lava underneath.
* TheLegionsOfHell: You spend the entire game fighting all kinds of demons and netherworld monsters left and right.
* OneManArmy: You're a single soldier taking on entire legions of demons single-handedly, and amazing at your job.
* SavageSpikedWeapons: Befitting their hellish nature, some of the demons carries gigantic, spiked clubs as weapons. And since you're a killing machine who only knows how to massacre everything you come across, you can collect clubs from hellish monsters for breaking skulls.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: The shotgun is one of the better weapons for killing monsters, easily turning the largest of them into a pile of guts with few blasts. It's even more impressive when fired from point-blank, which you lampshade during gameplay:
--> "In the name of the triple shotgun, amen."
----
--> I can see the entrance to it. No signal in there, and a putrid smell coming out tells me there might be more motherfuckers to kill.\\
I smile.
