''Heavy Rain'' is the SpiritualSuccessor to Quantic Dreams' ''VideoGame/{{Fahrenheit}}'' (aka ''Indigo Prophecy''), an AdventureGame for the sixth generation of consoles. ''Heavy Rain'' itself is a {{PS3}} exclusive, and has been described by the creators as an InteractiveMovie as well as a standard adventure game. The game focuses on four main characters: Ethan Mars, an architect looking for his kidnapped son; Madison Paige, a journalist investigating a big lead; Norman Jayden, an FBI profiler after a serial killer; and Scott Shelby, a private eye called in to investigate said killer by the previous victims' families. All are after the "Origami Killer", a serial killer known to leave origami by his victims. The characters have four days to find the killer before Ethan's son is similarly killed.

* DisappearedDad: As Shelby goes around visiting the families of the victims of the Origami Killer, the husbands of both Lauren Winters and Mrs. Susan Bowles have disappeared soon after their sons did. As much as this would seem as a standard case of DisappearedDad, you find out later that one father actually went out as Ethan Mars did to complete the trials to save his own son, but ended up dying in the power plant in the Butterfly chapter. This is similarly implied for the rest of the fathers... except for Reza's father, the shopkeeper. He didn't dare open the box.
