* RewardingVandalism: In Tiberian Dawn, civilian buildings, churches in particular, often spawn a cash crate when destroyed, giving players a practical incentive to raze villages beyond Nod's ForTheEvulz. This feature reappears to a lesser degree in Tiberian Sun, but here the focus lies more on cargo trucks one can often find and destroy in campaign missions, most of which drop either cash or healing crates.

* RecklessGunUsage: Subverted in the Tiberium Dawn cutscene where Kane briefs you on the next mission while toying with his Beretta 92, including pointing it at the camera/you for emphasis. The gun is almost immediately shown to have no magazine inserted, and Kane racks the slide before he does the pointing, so even if there was a bullet in the chamber, it'd be empty now. You still shouldn't point a gun at anything you don't want to shoot, but then it's Kane we're talking about, so it's actually quite in-character.

* SlapOnTheWristNuke: You'd expect actual nuclear bombs to do more than wipe out a few buildings. However, these "few buildings" often comprise half or more of the player's base, so in gameplay terms they pose a sufficiently major threat to make neutralizing their launch bases a number one priority the moment the enemy builds one.

** Tiberium Dawn is more or less the only game where Nod really waves around their villain card, with multiple missions tasking you with wiping out civilian villages to make a point. Unlike GDI forces, Nod troops automatically open fire on nearby civilians, and civilian buildings can be attacked at any time regardless of whether the mission calls for it or not. Blowing up villages with a Commando even counts towards the "blow up 100 buildings with the Commando" achievement in the Remastered collection, and one late-game mission has so many villages that the achievement can be "earned" there almost in one go. ** The Tiberium Dawn AI really doesn't like Commandoes, going after them with single-minded determination even when other, more dangerous enemy units are in range. Needless to say that this becomes problematic in the missions where you need to keep your Commando alive, which means pretty much any mission that gives you a Commando.

* Cutscene: One of the early games to use live-action FMV to advance the game plot, the series at least does not overwhelm the game itself. Continues to be a key element in the Tiberium and Red Alert games, if only for tradition.

to:

* MinovskyPhysics: Tiberium as of Wars. Before then it had been poorly understood, but the latest is thus:
** Tiberium is a Self-propagating crystalline compound which acts as TheVirus on a molecular level, turning everything it touches into more Tiberium via a nuclear process that gives off ionizing radiation. As a result, Tiberium is radioactive and mutagenic.
** Plantlife coming into contact with tiberium either become converted or mutate from the radiation into near-alien plantlife, spreading small tiberium crystals like spores.
** Tiberium leeches minerals from the soil and presents said minerals for harvesting in green crystals on the surface. There is thus no need to dig mines to harvest the substance, and if Tiberium remains on the surface and accumulates enough minerals it turns blue to signal it's 'ripe' for harvesting.
** Tiberium is capable of mutating itself, in order to gain resistance to anything that hinders its growth.
** The above all but ensures that Tiberium will eventually become the most valued substance on the planet, causing its population to fight over it, weakening them and allowing it to spread uncontrolably across a planet, gradually mutating or converting all life.

** This explosion is picked up by The Scrin harvesting fleets, the beings who seeded the planet in the first place and who need Tiberium to survive like we do air, and signals that the Tiberium harvest is as good as it is going to get. They swoop in, construct massive towers with little resistance since the world has fought itself to the point of extinction over the substance. Harvest the Tiberium, and then skedaddle out of there, leaving a barren planet behind and repeating the process with another planet.
