* TheProtagonist: {{Averted|Trope}}. [[spoiler: Fox was the protagonist of the early comics, appearing in almost every single strip. Then in Comic #35 he was suddenly killed off. The comic never regained a main character after that, it just kept on going by using its large cast of secondary characters as a replacement for a small number of main characters.]]

Once the characters had achieved enough GenreSavviness that they realized they didn't actually have to fight the BigBad [[{{Zelda}} Dark Link]] because they were all practically immortal, the author changed the rules and decided to go in the complete opposite direction and make ''every'' death permanent, with no hope of resurrection. By the end of the series, slightly more than a quarter of the cast gets killed off.
