I decided to write something positive... that was too much effort, so [[SomethingPositive here's a link to a webcomic with that name.]]
Good Habits:
I've noted there is an inverse relationship between the quality of my posts and the frequency of them. I now spend most of my time here as a {{Lurker}}. Used to trope frequently; mostly I quietly manage my watchlist and occasionally chip in in the trope repair shop.
Bad Habits:
Chainsaw! DO NOT POST AFTER MIDNIGHT! [[IntoxicationEnsues Especially after binging on sugar and caffeine!]] [[WhatCouldPossiblyGoWrong When has this ever ended well for me or anyone else?!]]
I also have a tendency to react without thinking to [[BerserkButton certain topics.]] It is not unfair to accuse me of being easy to provoke.
In my defence, I usually regret these kinds of posts immediately after making them. But of course, by that point they're there for the world to see. Way to score dumbass points, dumbass.
Things I oft repeat.
"Nothing is eternal"- well, nothing is. This usually refers to the inevitability of a change in the status quo at ''some'' point. Things seldom stay the same aeons in and out; countries come and go, laws change, philosophies shift. Therefore, an important thing to consider when discussing anything is something is eventually going to shift, most of the time; the question is, what is it going to shift to? RealLife is one long aversion of StatusQuoIsGod. A lesson politicans, and for that matter anyone, would do well to learn.
"When irrational critics attack, look for the hidden sanity."- If an action you are participating in is being damned for reasons you don't understand, take a very close look at what the other side is saying, and consider why you are being targeted. Even if the content of the critique is seemingly irrational, there may be rational concern behind it. Your harshest critic can sometimes show you a gem of wisdom more balanced points of view miss out from misplaced respect.
"Know when to shut up."- If you've made a point, let it stand, only reply if there is something to add to it, or if your point is disproved and you need to acknowledge it. The number of times I've seen posters on forums and people in real life foul things up and make themselves look like ''idiots'' in the process... and the times I've made that same error, is staggering. Sometimes the best action is inaction; let other posters dance around an issue. If you've made a point and don't have anything to add, let it stand.

Whelp. I'm taking a site holiday. May be back, may be not. Need to purge the internet crazy from myself. Ratio of normal posts to posts I'm ashamed of is falling alarmingly again.
