"Emila Skytracker" is a woman engineer who found online fandoms during midlife. She is no longer part of a fandom, but instead became interested in how myths work psychologically. She sees Science Fiction and Fantasy as modern living mythology. She thinks that Carl Jung has a message for our time, but politics is mistranslating it. Jung is hard to explain, but [[https://medium.com/@SkytrackerU/carl-jungs-fantastic-voyage-through-the-subconscious-of-nazism-f849720d70b0 she'll try]]. "Emila Skytracker" is the secret Alter Ego pseudonym of a Chemical Engineer and IT professional who presumes to translate [[https://medium.com/@SkytrackerU/carl-jungs-fantastic-voyage-through-the-subconscious-of-nazism-f849720d70b0 Carl Jung's "Psychology of Nazism" for the lay public]]. Sometimes she feels sorry for herself and almost envies people with a more normal mid-life crisis. She has enjoyed occasional lurking on the Tropes site for 10 years, but decided to get more involved as she writes about Jung.

At least her secret quest feels like a superhero origin story. Skytracker was a STEM major so arrogant she thought she could understand Jung even though she never took a course in mythology, Psychology, or even passed college English Literature. She thought she should be able to understand Psychology's deepest end of the pool simply because she understood Thermodynamics and Meteorology. To be fair, Jung used Meteorology metaphors to describe collective/mass psychology, comparing Germany's Nazism to a hurricane. Diagnosing crowd psychology is [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OlderThanFeudalism OlderThanFeudalism]] since Jesus did it also within the New Testament. i.e. Matthew 16:3, Luke 12:56.

Too late she learned her danger. Jung laid eggs on her brain. Now she is both blessed and cursed to go through life with a strange double-vision. She sees surface reality, along with the strange symbolic world of the collective unconscious. It is like going through life with a human eye, and a strange eldritch eye having vision similar to a Chuthulu fish cultist.

In real life, "Skytracker" chose her pseudonym because she really did track air pollution across sky while working for the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) in the nineties, as an Enforcement Officer, under the Clean Air Act (CAA). While a "Fed", she studied the Meteorology of Air Pollution, and various CAA scientific tricks and legal strategies used to build federal cases for the Department of Justice (DOJ). "Toxic air" violations are a particularly difficult sell in court since the threat is invisible. Its tough to get a judge or jury to hear out a dry technical case when there is no damage visible, the "body" blew away, so to speak. US EPA officers are also trained to advise communities facing toxic threats.

By 2000, she had moved to Silicon Valley in time to work during an internet boom and bust cycle or two. No she didn't get rich or go bankrupt working at an internet start up. Ironically, since there's some professional embarrassment to this after a career in industrial safety, Skytracker's midlife crisis was to fall down an open Jung-hole while distracted by the antics of online fandoms.
