This is also not true - interviews from 2011 with people who are not Bendis revealed simply that Miles wasn’t fully ready yet and they didn’t have his storyline prepared. I cannot find where Bendis “went on record” but Wikipedia has an archived interview with Axel Alonso saying that Miles wasn’t ready yet.

* RealitySubtext: Considering the death of Loeb's son, Magneto's vengeful retaliation against the world after the murder of his children can be read into plenty.
* TorchTheFranchiseAndRun: This was originally intended to be the end of the Ultimate Comics line, but instead the line continued.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: [[Creator/BrianBendis Bendis]] has gone on record that Peter Parker was originally supposed to be KilledOffForReal in this storyline. Bendis had a last moment change of heart and lobbied for the character to survive because he wanted to tie up some more loose ends. This is what ultimately led to creation of ComicBook/MilesMorales.

This is a misconception - interviews during the event indicate it was never intended to be a Series Finale for the entire line.

** In the original plan, ''ComicBook/{{Ultimatum}}'' would have closed the Ultimate line with an EverybodyDiesEnding, and then be followed by a relaunch. DeathIsCheap, and everybody would be alive after the ResetButton. Loeb simply wrote ''that'' ending. But then it was decided that Ultimatum would not be the end, and that the following stories should continue from there.
** Spider-Man was benefited by this. Bendis still had some last stories to narrate with Ultimate Peter Parker, so he was revealed to be NotQuiteDead by the end of the ''Requiem'' issue. This, however, was only temporary, and Parker only stayed for a short time while Bendis prepared things for ComicBook/MilesMorales.

* FranchiseKiller: The effects were not immediate, but ''Ultimatum'' ended up playing a major cause of the decline and collapse of the Ultimate Marvel line. The sheer death in the comic also cut many storylines short and the Ultimate universe's AllDeathsFinal mandate made the damage ''Ultimatum'' did impossible to fix.

* AccidentallyCorrectWriting: Magneto flipped the poles of the Earth to cause a worldwide cataclysm, and perhaps even an extinction-level event to destroy humanity. In 2021, real-world researchers [[https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/feb/18/end-of-neanderthals-linked-to-flip-of-earths-magnetic-poles-study-suggests suggested]] that such a thing could have happened 42,000 years ago, leading to the extinction of megafauna and the Neanderthals.
