** This film was intended to get Creator/DanaCarvey out of the career slump that his failed sketch comedy show, ''Series/TheDanaCarveyShow'', had started six years prior; it was also his first big role following his botched heart surgery and the lawsuit which followed. Instead, it obliterated what little of a career he had left. Since then, he's mainly stuck to standup with the occasional minor role in other poorly-received comedies like ''Film/JackAndJill'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretLifeOfPets''.

* UrbanLegendOfZelda: The "Turtle Club scene was filmed on 9/11" story. For years, there was a story going around that the Turtle Club scene was being filmed as 9/11 happened, and there was a moment of silence with Dana Carvey in full Turtle Man costume. What ''actually'' occurred was the Turtle Club scene was delayed ''because'' of 9/11. Though when filming resumed on September 24th of that year, there was indeed a moment of silence with Carvey in full costume.

* OldShame: When asked by a fan on Website/{{Twitter}} on how they should punish their kid for mispronouncing [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Data]], Creator/BrentSpiner told them to make their kid watch this film.
** In fact, during the endless end credits, you can see Spiner do a pretty clear AsideGlance that screams, "Get me out of here."

* CommonKnowledge: It is often claimed that the Turtle Club scene was filmed on 9/11. [[https://defector.com/master-of-disguise-turtle-club-911/ It was actually filmed two weeks later]], though the cast did observe a moment of silence for the victims on the day of shooting the scene and Carvey was indeed in turtle costume at the time.

* DawsonCasting: Pistachio is supposed to be 25. Dana Carvey was 47 at time of filming.

* SoMyKidsCanWatch: Dana Carvey agreed to the film because his children were too young to watch any of his other movies, which were all decidedly family-unfriendly.
