* ThrowItIn: Just before a show in El Paso on December 8, 1951, Don Barbour broke the high E string on his guitar. Since he didn't have a spare high E string, he took a G string and tuned it an octave lower. The unique sound that it produced became part of the Four Freshmen sound.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: During the interim period when the Four Freshmen weren't under contract to Capitol and "It's a Blue World" was a hit in Detroit, Mercury and Decca were both interested in signing the quartet. If such a deal would have gone through, the band wouldn't have been able to re-record that song for at least seven years. [[note]]The group did eventually record for Decca a one-off single in 1966 after their contract with Capitol ended.[[/note]]
