All things considered, it ended up being a surprisingly good port, despite showing signs of being rushed.Such as the unreasonable load times, the lack of a save feature (in spite of the Saturn having internal and external storage capability), Tails and Knuckles having the same set of Special Stages and thus the Chaos Emeralds being locked to one per act, occasional sound issues, some equivalent music missing like the alternating boss themes, and the Invincibility track playing for the incorrect length of time.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: The afermentioned mod was made by the original game’s director Jon Burton address several critiques of the original Genesis version, and to add features he planned for the original release:
** The Game’s controls have been tweaked to be less slippery, and adjustments to levels have been made to reduce instances of HitboxDissonance.
** The Camera is pulled back further during Boss Fights to make it easier to see Sonic and Eggman.
** The game adds a PasswordSave when the original version of the game lacked any kind of save feature.
** Sonic losing all his collected Flickies was a major ScrappyMechanic in the original, in The Director’s Cut Sonic will only lose one Flicky per hit.
** The Director’s Cut adds Super Sonic as an unlockable bonus to better incentivize collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds.

Not Trivia.

* MarketBasedTitle: The standard NTSC version is known as Sonic 3D Blast and the PAL version is known as Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, but Japan used both, the latter for the physical Saturn release, and the former for the Mega Drive edition via Sonic Mega Collection and the UsefulNotes/Wii UsefulNotes/VirtualConsole. As Creator/TravellersTales founder Jon Burton pointed out in a video, the game's regional title is coded to detect if it is playing on an NTSC or PAL Mega Drive. As such, North American and Japanese machines will always display the title as Sonic 3D Blast, while PAL machines will display Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island. The same holds true for the Saturn release, only with Japan flipping to Flickies' Island rather than Blast. The PC version, however, is tied to whatever market it was sold in at the time of release, with North America having Blast, and Europe and Taiwan having Flickies' Island. There were plans for the PC version to detect region coding, as the title screens can be found on the disc displaying both titles although how this would really work would be quite questionable as [=PCs=] by themselves do not have real regional locking capabilities at a hardware level and internet access is at this point a luxury available to few people. The only options PC regional coding can be implemented at the time is if the game detects the version of Windows installed, which is by no means accurate as the North American English version of Windows 95 is one of the most widely installed version of Windows worldwide, or it detects the selected keyboard layout, which means a large chunk of the world would've been reported as North American due to the ubiquity of the layout.
** Incidentally, the installer and window title for the PC version refers to it as "Sonic 3D Blast: Flickies' Island."
