** The first two games were heavily criticised for their heavy use of NoticeThis, low (or non-existent) difficulty of puzzles, and the fact that the games are taking themselves ''waaay'' too seriously for such crazy, B-movie plots. The dev team actually addressed those issues, something they even admitted during production showcases and gameplay previews. Thus, the difficulty of puzzles and explorations can be set separately, disabling many of the visual cues (up to turning them off completely), while the puzzles themselves require far more precision. Meanwhile, Lara has at least a few breather moments, rather than constantly being chased like a wild animal, in distress, badly hurt, or any combination of those.
** A lot of fans were displeased at the real lack of combat compared to the first two games, leaving you with a ton of weapon upgrades and combat oriented skills and not many chances to use them. The DLC tombs released after the game's launch have their own big combat setpieces, beefing up the action considerably.

* DummiedOut: The original, unpatched version of the game shipped with a different ending, in which Lara receives a letter from Jacqueline Natla (her first BigBad and arguably her ArchEnemy), tying the prequel trilogy into the events of the original ''Tomb Raider'' games. This ending was quickly removed in a day 1 patch, as the dev team reveals that it being included in the final version of the game had been a mistake, as they did not want to tie down their new continuity by linking it to the original games. One person managed to discover the ending on account of a ''bad internet connection''.
