* ActorAllusion: Many long-term Whedon fans are {{squee}}ing over the opportunity for the [[{{Series/Angel}} Fred/Wesley]] romance to finally have a happy ending. Joss himself didn't realize the connection until numerous critics started pointing it out upon the film's release.

* NoBudget: First of what Whedon hopes will be many "micro-budget" films from his new production company.
* ProductionPosse: Almost every cast member that played a role in this movie has been in Whedon's prior TV/Movie work.
* SeparatedAtBirthCasting: As noted in Joss Whedon's commentary, Amy Acker (Beatrice) and Jillian Morgese (Hero) do look like they could be cousins.
* ThrowItIn: A fluke fog bank appeared when it came time to shoot the funeral, resulting in a sequence that looks straight out of an Ingmar Bergman film.
* TroubledProduction: A mild example, but the DVD commentary gives a few instances of trouble for them. They mention having trouble with barking dogs and motorcycles and, at one point, were actually shut down by the police for filming a movie without a license. Whedon just kept filming the movie in secret, incredibly worried they'd be caught again.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Creator/AnthonyHead was originally going to be Leonato, but he unfortunately couldn't make the time to film it. At least we got Creator/ClarkGregg taking his place.

Hey Its That Guy cut by TRS decision. Ditto for Hey Its That Voice.

* HeyItsThatGuy: being directed by Creator/JossWhedon...
** [[Series/{{Angel}} Fred and Wesley]] are Beatrice and Benedick. [[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Caleb and Andrew]] also turn up as Dogberry and Verges.
** Its [[Series/{{Firefly}} Captain Tightpants Dogberry, and Dr Simon Don John]].
** Or Beatrice and Benedick are [[Series/{{Dollhouse}} Dr Claire Saunders and Senator Daniel Perrin]], while Topher is Claudio and Mr Dominic is Don Pedro.
** [[Series/AgentsOfSHIELD Phil Coulson]] is Leonato, and the waitress is Margaret. Hero was also in the restaurant.
** [[WebVideo/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog Captain Hammer]] is Dogberry, one of his groupies sings at the party and another groupie is a guest.
** [[Film/TheCabinInTheWoods Lin]] is Beatrice, Marty is Claudio and Ronald the Intern is Verges. Marty lost all of his genre savviness.
