* UrbanLegendOfZelda: Normally, you can only create Good and Neutral demons through fusion, but rumor had it that there was a way to create Evil demons too. The guy in the first town even mentions that he's working on a way to fuse demons that can't normally be fused. Unfortunately, it can't be done without a cheat device, leaving potential Game Breakers like Tiamat and Girimekhala unusuable.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Unused data reveals that The Dark Hero alone was supposed boss fought during the player's trip to the Suzuki Company instead of fighting demons he summoned, explaining that he was [[CameBackWrong revived by Satan]]. As opposed to the final game, where he dies fighting Bael and dies but not before [[RedemptionEqualsDeath admitting to the player he was wrong and just wanted to be a hero and givin them back Solomon's Ring]]. Yumiko Shirasagi from the [[Literature/DigitalDevilStory original game]] (now an old woman) was supposed to make an appearence in an unknown capacity according to a magazine preview.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The Dark Hero was supposed to be a boss fought during the player's trip to the Suzuki Company, hence his boss data and incredibly high stats. Replaced old, unfinished translation with the brand new finished one

* NoExportForYou: It's a pre-''[[VideoGame/ShinMegamiTenseiIIINocturne Nocturne]]'' mainline ''[=MegaTen=]'' game, so this is a given. However, there is a fan translation for the Super Famicom remake [[http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2263/ available here]]. There's also [[https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2433/ a fan translation for the NES original]], but it's incomplete.

** There was also a rumor that you could finish the game without siding with the Partner and abandoning the Friend, either in the original or in the remake. This, again, is impossible without cheating: you can't finish the game without the Water Seal, and you can't get that without the Partner in your party.
