** The Chinese version of ''maimai DX'' is missing some songs as usual, but of note is "Entrance" by Ice, which was intentionally excluded due to Ice being shunned in China for publicly expressing views in support of Hong Kong independence.

* BannedInChina: The song "Entrance" was excluded from Chinese versions of the game because its composer, Ice, [[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/22/cytus-ii-game-removed-in-china-over-links-to-pro-hong-kong-morse-code-message made a song with a "Free Hong Kong" message in morse code]], which rendered him PersonaNonGrata in China (where the idea of Hong Kong as an independent territory rather than a Chinese territory is a massive no-no).

* FanNickname: The cabinets are sometimes called "washing machines", due to the striking resemblence to them.

* LateExportForYou: As usual with these Japanese games, the English Asia-Pacific builds tend to be released several weeks after the Japanese release, the East Asia Chinese builds less so.

* NoPortForYou: Due to the specialized controller, it is unlikely that this series will ever get a consumer port.

* JustHereForGodzilla: The unique videos for Vocaloid songs are often dance covers (踊ってみた/Odottemita) from Website/NicoNicoDouga. In addition, notes in Easy mode follows the direction of dance movements. This spawned a small subset of players who play Easy mode to do the dance moves shown in the video.
** There also exists a small subset of players who only play the Pop, Anime or Game tracks because they're fans of the pop group, anime or game.

** The international version of ''maimai'' DX will not have a DX Pass Maker and will also be behind in song updates.

* NoExportForYou:
** The game is only available in Japan and select parts of non-Japanese East Asia and Southeast Asia. This is likely due to the large number of licenses owned by Pony Canyon, a Japanese media conglomorate notorious for region-locking Website/YouTube videos if they don't outright take them down. There are two cabinets in UsefulNotes/LasVegas running ''maimai ORANGE PLUS'' in English (likely parallel imports of the Asia-Pacific game cracked to not brick itself after the timebomb expires, or parallel imports of the non-All.net build meant for The Philippines), but they are offline. The only alternative for people outside of the region is ''Maipad'', which is an unofficial android clone.

* LateExportForYou:
** As usual with these Japanese games, the English Asia-Pacific builds tend to be released several weeks after the Japanese release, the East Asia Chinese builds less so.
