* ScrewedByTheLawyers: The reason why Clark is specifically referred to as "Young Superman" in the show instead of "Superboy" is because at the time, DC had actually lost the rights to Superboy. As a result, despite the character clearly being Superboy, the legal issues at the time prevented the writers from actually calling him that.

** There was going to be a third season, and it was to have been ''awesome''.
** Also, Mon-El was supposed to be in the line-up for Season 2. Instead, we got [[CanonForeigner Superman X]].

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: While Season 1 was completely released across three DVD volumes, the second season never received any complete home releases. Only the 2-part series finale got released on home video as an extra on ''WesternAnimation/TheDeathOfSuperman'', and that was ''a decade'' since it had aired on television. Finally averted in 2020, when [[https://www.facebook.com/tvshowsondvd/posts/10158223814391063?__tn__=K-R it was announced]] the second season would not only finally get a DVD release, but the ''complete series'' would also be released on Blu-Ray.

** There were a few references to this show's continuity placed in as EasterEggs in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' (which [[https://twitter.com/JTuckerAnimator/status/1251718131468267521?s=20 were thrown in by director Ben Jones]]). As for whether or not this means the shows take place in a SharedUniverse, James Tucker says it's possible and [[WhatCouldHaveBeen it might've been explored had there been another season of B&TB.]]

* ActorAllusion:
** Creator/DaveWittenberg's character, Ferro Lad, at one point tells Lightning Lad that [[Manga/{{Naruto}} he doesn't want to see what's under his mask]].
** Dorian Harewood, who voices Dr. Londo in Season 2, also voiced another [[Anime/AstroBoy doctor who had issues with his son]]. Unfortunately, this one had much less of a "happy ending" vibe to it.
* CommonKnowledge: In spite of popular assumption, James Tucker explained on the World's Finest forums that ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'' episode "Far From Home" was ''not'' a [[PoorlyDisguisedPilot backdoor pilot]] for a Supergirl/Legion of Super-Heroes show that got retooled into this Superman/Legion of Super-Heroes show. ''Legion of Super-Heroes'' was a demand from the network to create a Superman-centric show to tie-in with ''Film/SupermanReturns''. However, Tucker and Creator/DwayneMcDuffie have stated that ''Justice League'' would have gone off into a space-time adventure direction had it gone another season, so ''Legion of Super-Heroes'' may have been [[RefittedForSequel partially inspired by those unused plans]].
* ExecutiveMeddling: The reason Phantom Girl and Saturn Girl didn't make as many appearances in Season 2 was because the crew was told to make the cartoon appeal more to boys. As mentioned down below, this is also the reason Alexis only had a simple cameo during that season.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** Emerald Empress went from being voiced by Creator/JenniferHale to Creator/TaraStrong.
** Dr. Londo went from being voiced by Creator/HarryLennix to Creator/DorianHarewood.

** Not only that, the final issue of the comic ended with an appearance of the [[spoiler:Pre-Zero Hour Legion to bookend the series]].
* RoleReprise: Creator/CoreyBurton reprises his Franchise/{{DCAU}} role as [[spoiler:ComicBook/{{Brainiac}}]].
** In the French dub, Martha Kent is voiced by Brigitte Virtudes, reprising her role from ''Series/{{Smallville}}''.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Was canned after only two seasons as mentioned down below, although it was admittedly lucky to last that long due to Creator/TheWB changing to Creator/TheCW at the time.
* TalkingToHimself:
** Creator/YuriLowenthal plays Superman and Superman X. Justified, because the latter is a clone of the former.
** Creator/KariWahlgren voices Saturn Girl, Triplicate Girl, and Shrinking Violet.
* ThrowItIn: [[https://twitter.com/JTuckerAnimator/status/1251718131468267521?s=20 Courtesy]] of ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' director Ben Jones and some ShrugOfGod from James Tucker, these two shows might take place in a SharedUniverse.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen
** There was going to be a third season, and it was to have been ''awesome''.
** Also, Mon-El was supposed to be in the line-up for Season 2. Instead, we got [[CanonForeigner Superman X]].
** James Tucker had plans to make Alexis Luthor into TheDragon for Imperiex in season two. She would have later made a HeelFaceTurn (out of personal selfishness, of course) and betrayed him, gaining the galaxy's trust and running for a political position. Due to ExecutiveMeddling, however, they had to reduce the number of female characters for most of the season, and the subplot was cut.
** According to James Tucker in an [[http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/news.php?action=fullnews&id=117 interview]] with World's Finest Online, had the show continued with a third season, Comicbook/{{Supergirl}} would have been introduced.
