* ActorInspiredElement:
** Christian Troy's surname was originally 'Vega' and the character was written to be Latino, but changed when he was cast.
** In ''Film/FantasticFour2005'', he suggested having Victor's scars sealed by surgical staples. The character was also intended to have a Transylvanian accent until Julian opted to mix his natural Australian with a general American.
* ActorSharedBackground:
** Cole Turner of ''Charmed'' is introduced as an assistant District Attorney. Julian had studied law prior to getting into acting.
** Victor Von Doom of ''Film/FantasticFour2005'' is a Latvian monarch. Julian is also the son of a world leader and aristocrat.
* CreatorBacklash: He and the rest of the cast disliked Season 3 of ''Series/NipTuck''.
* FakeAmerican: The majority of his roles. If you want to see him play an Australian, you mostly have to watch reruns of ''Series/HomeAndAway''. He played an Australian for the film ''Swinging Safari'', and admitted he found that hard as he had been so used to putting on the American accent for years.
* RomanceOnTheSet:
** He and Danni Minogue met on ''Home & Away'' and later married, but divorced after 18 months.
** He and Shannen Doherty were dating while on ''Charmed'', and fans eagerly point to a couple of ShipTease moments in the episode "The Good, the Bad & the Cursed" when the characters have to work together (which coincidentally was directed by the actress herself).
* StarDerailingRole: While ''{{Film/Premonition}}'' was financially successful, the dreadful critical reviews (8% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the failures of ''Film/FantasticFourRiseOfTheSilverSurfer'' and ''Prisoner'' killed his leading man hype. Television was much kinder to him though.
* StarMakingRole: The unexpected popularity of Cole Turner in ''{{Series/Charmed 1998}}'' definitely helped him make it big.
* TypeCasting: Often as villains or morally grey characters.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Cole Turner was intended as a seven episode character who would be killed off at the end of his arc. Everyone liked his chemistry with Alyssa Milano, and this led to Cole becoming a regular until the middle of Season 5.
** He was one of many actors touted to replace Pierse Brosnan as James Bond until Creator/DanielCraig got the role.
