* AuthorsSavingThrow: This episode is something of one to [[Recap/DoctorWho2005CSTheChristmasInvasion "The Christmas Invasion]]." One of the Tenth Doctor's most controversial decisions among fans was his decision to overthrow Harriet Jones, Prime Minister [[note]]Yes, [[RunningGag we know who she is]][[/note]], since that removed the woman who the Doctor himself stated was supposed to lead Britain into a new Golden Age, and the ensuing power vacuum subsequently helped lead to much of the rest of the show's darkest moments under her successors, such as Harold Saxon next season and Brian Green during "Children of Earth," which was done for a decision where many found themselves [[StrawmanHasAPoint agreeing with Harriet, or at least easily understanding her perspective]] (in this case, blowing up the retreating Sycorax, a species shown in the episode to be both incredibly bloodthirsty and very untrustworthy.) This episode, in essence, proves Harriet right (or at least concedes that she might have had a good point) by playing out the horrors of the exact scenario she used to justify her actions... one day, Earth will be under attack and the Doctor won't be around to defend it, so humanity needs to be able to protect itself. The episode itself even lampshades it, with Sarah Jane curious why Harriet is so eager to find the person who deposed her and destroyed her career, with Harriet responding she's thought a lot about that, but stands by her decision because she knew this day would come.

Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Though Davros being reduced to a head contained within the casing of the Emperor Dalek was considered a neat twist within the context of "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS25E1RemembranceOfTheDaleks Remembrance of the Daleks]]", most fans were glad to see him back to his original form here. His make-up is also designed to harken back to the original mask worn by Creator/MichaelWisher, instead of the one worn by Creator/TerryMolloy in his 1980s appearances.
