** What's even sadder is the revelation that he's a werewolf. Anna is initially overjoyed to see him alive again and then she realises. She gets him back and loses him again in practically a minute.
* Anna's pleading to Van Helsing to save Velkan is actually quite heart breaking on both sides. Anna thinks Van Helsing sees him as just another monster to kill, trying to remind him that he can't help hurting people and it isn't his fault. Van Helsing ''knows'' this, but has to remind her that "he'll do it anyway". It's likely he's had this conversation many times before with other friends and relatives of monsters who were once human.
--> '''Anna:''' Don't you understand forgiveness?
--> '''Van Helsing:''' Yes. I ask for it often.
** Anna is also on the verge of tears as she outlines just how her life has been nothing but loss thanks to Dracula.
--> "I despise Dracula more than you can ever imagine. He has taken everything from me, leaving me alone in this world."
* Van Helsing has some angst about not remembering his past, but then muses that perhaps actually remembering people you loved that you've now lost might be more painful than to remember nothing at all. And he experiences that pain first hand at the end of the movie.

* Velkan's DisneyDeath early on. Anna can only look out to sea in desperation, whispering "God...help us", comprehending that she's the last surviving member of her family.

Added DiffLines:

* Velkan is shown a burnt skeleton and realises who it is by the pendant around the neck. His father.
* The Creature attacks Anna and Van Helsing, thinking they're after him, and Anna asks "what do you want?" - to which he stops attacking and replies "to exist".
* The deaths of the Brides are sad in their own ways, especially since the survivors still mourn them.
** Marishka suffers BreakTheHaughty, being trapped against the side of a tower by the arrows as she slowly crumbles to dust. She screams in pain the whole time too.
** Verona realises she was lured into a trap and tries to fly away, but gets impaled through the heart. She fades away with a LittleNo.
** Aleera lasted the longest, and we see her looking shocked that her luck has finally run out.
* Velkan dies in his sister's arms, whispering "forgive me". Even though he was under Dracula's control, he still holds himself accountable for what he did as a werewolf.
* Anna is killed saving Van Helsing by stabbing him with the werewolf cure. He cradles her body and howls as he turns back to human form, and he's not doing the typical ManlyTears. He is weeping shamelessly at the death of the woman he loved.
** Carl is also sobbing when he sees that she's died.

Igor's call out was intentional, not an accident, and considering his callousness towards the Doctor, regret would not make any sense.

** Oddly enough, Igor expresses some regret over Dr. Victor's death as the creature carries him away. Unfortunately, his scream unintentionally draws the mob's attention...

*** The Brazilian dub sounds even more anguished, due to Guilherme Briggs's voice sounding less baritone.

During Dracula's "I have no heart" rant, you can actually hear the man beneath the monster, and he is just so heartbroken by what he's become.
