* In season 36, watching Angie & Danny get eliminated over something ''completely'' out of their control (their camera crew didn't follow them at a turn and got lost) is painful to watch, especially considering how much of a massive fan of the race Danny was.

* Even if you're a fan of Greg & John, seeing underdogs Joel & Garrett come up short after leading the whole leg can be hard to watch after Garrett revealed in the previous leg that he needed the money for a ''$60,000'' service dog for his handicapped daughter.

* In season 34, Abby and Will get taken out of the race not because they lost a leg, but because one of them tested positive for COVID-19. The other teams are all clearly crushed and even Phil seems legitimately upset that they got taken out because of what was basically bad luck.

* At the end of Leg 11 of Season 2, Wil ultimately decides his marriage to Tara is beyond saving. It really shows a different side to the abrasive guy we got to know previously. Here we see a guy who is trying desperately to save a clearly dying marriage but ultimately can't due to irreconcilable differences. The sad truth is that his story reflects a sad truth in America, as married business owners have one of the highest divorce rates.
