* While his behavior in "Just One of the Princes" was unacceptable, in "The Flying Crown", you can't help but feel sorry when it turns out that Hugo couldn't take the pressure of living up to his family's legacy, and he was living in the shadow of his older brother Axel, who [[BigBrotherBully bullies him mercilessly]] to get him to do so, [[FreudianExcuse which explains why he was such a bully]].

Added DiffLines:

* In "The Flying Crown", we learn that the reason for Hugo's bullying shown in "Just One of the Princes" was because he couldn't take the pressure of living up to his family's legacy and that he's bullied himself by his older brother, who insists that the mean things he tells his little brother are just jokes.

Added DiffLines:

* "Lord of the Rink" shows Hugo taking up Enchanted Ice Dancing and enjoying it, but he almost gives it up in order to please his father, who insists that the men in the family refrain from any "girly" sports. It's sweet how King Garrick is desperate to be more active in his son's life, but he doesn't even notice that the boy isn't happy.

* Unsurprisingly, the sad songs are quite tearjerkers.
